The wait is finally over! John Krasinski has been named People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" for 2024. The announcement was made on Tuesday night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, with Krasinski making an appearance. The publication also shared a photo of its new cover on social media.

John Krasinski starred in "The Office" before launching the "Quiet Place" franchise and leading the action series "Jack Ryan." Krasinski succeeds last year's honoree, Patrick Dempsey.

In the reveal, host Stephen Colbert acted a little upset that he did not earn the coveted title. Krasinski then appeared on screen to console Colbert, saying, “It’s ok, you’re not the Sexiest Man Alive but who cares? Who is? Except for me, apparently.”

John Krasinski then appeared in an hilarious video, in the style of an ’80s infomercial, where he taught Colbert tips on how to be sexy, according to CNN. In an interview with People, Krasinski joked his wife, actress Emily Blunt, might fulfil her promise to use his cover as wallpaper in their home. The 45-year-old said his reaction to the news was "just immediate blackout...Zero thoughts," he wondered if he was being pranked.

The news follows some online confusion, as a magazine clipping featuring Benny Blanco led many to believe he had received the title.

Krasinski is best known for starring as Jim Halpert in “The Office” for nine seasons. He also directed and starred in the 2018 “A Quiet Place” film alongside his wife, actress Emily Blunt, and went on to direct the sequel in 2020.

He also starred as Jack Ryan in the Prime Video TV series “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” from 2018 to 2023. A movie based on the series was announced last month.

Krasinski joked that when he told Blunt about his sexy achievement, he couldn’t understand what she was saying because “there was so much laughter on the other end of the phone.”

Krasinski told People in the issue, available Friday, that this new title might inspire more than just jokes at home.

"I think it's going to make me do more household chores," he quipped. "After this comes out, she'll be like, 'All right, that means you're going to really earn it here at home.' "

Krasinski takes the title from “Greys Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey, who was crowned the 2023 Sexiest Man Alive. Earlier this year, he debuted his sixth directorial effort, "IF," a film about imaginary friends that also featured Blunt. They have two daughters together.
