This whole page feels like it was written by a fan, which isn't really the point of Wikipedia. I'd like to propose a revamp of the page that limits the content to just the facts, eliminating vague references to the quality of the music. Something like: Members, Albums, Notable Songs, Awards, Links. I'm happy to make the changes, but they're too large to do without getting some opinions. Thoughts? | Keithlaw 00:32, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

:Keith - I agree, I think the page has a big need for a major update. Go for it, man. IanMcGreene 16:31, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

Organix
I didn't want to take it upon myself to edit this in case I am wrong about it, but is there any confirmation out there that Organix is really a live recording from Germany? I recently acquired a copy of the album, and the only song that's mentioned as being recorded live is Essaywhuman, and it says that it was recorded in Slovenia, not Germany. Numerous comments that I've read from Questlove (see Homegrown, Vol. 2's liner notes, for one example) indicate that the band was given free recording time in a studio somewhere (I can't recall if the exact location was named or not - I'd have to check) to record their debut. Not to mention that aside from the aforementioned Essaywhuman, it doesn't sound like a "live" album to me.

Are there any other sources out there that can show otherwise? Perhaps I'm wrong, who knows.
:You're right, it's not a live album recorded in Germany. It is a studio album that, as you noted, has one live track.--Ryanlovesyou 23:35, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Members
Line 37 ⟶ 23:
What does everyone think of about adding a members timeline similar to the one in the The Verve Pipe article. It looks like a very good way to communicate the membership. I'd like to do it, but I'm not sure when I'll find time, so if anyone else wants to take the lead, please do. Also it's pretty easy to determine who was a member of the group at each album release from liner notes, but is there a good source of info for the dates of membership changes between albums?

:* I just saw this after uploading a timeline, but have updated with an info graphic similar to one id seen on RCHP wiki page. Let me know of any issues or inaccuracies, suggestions, ect. After looking at the code on other pages it seems that updating this to a user editable bar graph would be more wiki friendly going forward. The Do This Well compilation of remixes and rarities should not appear in the discography. It was a poor quality, bootlegged, unauthorized collection. I've deleted it from the discography. Jean15paul 04:08, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

I don't believe the concert in Montreal caused speculation of a new album... Usher performed with The Roots at their annual Roots Picnic, and they basically did the same set. My guess is that Usher was invited to perform and brought The Roots along. <!-- Template:Unsigned IP --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.91.185.194 (talk) 21:43, 21 December 2016 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
Unspecified source for :Image:3112.jpg
I found :Image:3112.jpg and noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Someone will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If it was obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self-no-disclaimers tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as non-free fair use in or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If there are other files on this page, consider checking that they have specified their source and are tagged properly, too. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:30, 26 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fair use rationale for Image:3112.jpg
:Image:3112.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

The various references to LNJF should probably be consolidated off into its own section, or linked for further reading to the LNJF wiki, which is admittedly weak as it stands.--167.176.6.8 (talk) 20:03, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

:Fleshed it out more, not sure whether inclusion of Obama and Romney is a good idea in 'Slow Jam' section, but those videos are of merit based on their reception and participants. Included what i thought were sketches that revolved around the Roots and are very successful and couldn't exist in their current form without them. Im sure i missed something and the language could be tightened up some, but i gotta come back with fresh eyes after working on it for so long.--Td65924 (talk) 19:40, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

What's wrong with the timeline?
On my computer, at least, the timeline looks really strange. Lines come from the left to the vertical lines in the table. This obscures some of the text and looks really strange. Can this be fixed? I don't know how to do this. 3s (talk) 13:07, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
