On my first pass, I don't see a lot on what happens when and if the cable fails and ends up encircling the earth with a (potentially) electrical conductive cable, shorting out most grids in countries located on or near equatorial boundaries. Anyone else interested in this? I attended a session on Space Elevators over 2 decades ago where this subject was explored. Does it require a section title, or least a mention in one of the current sections? Thanks .... Makermark (talk) 23:18, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

:@Makermark Well, the biggest it requires before getting into the meat of writing/formatting is reliable sources. We need to be careful to avoid both original research and, most especially I think, WP:CRYSTAL. In terms of legal ramifications, I'm concerned that right now we can only "guess" at it, though depending on the reliable sources, it may be worth having a section discussing possible ramifications. Or, alternatively, maybe we frame it as what scholarly discussion on possible ramifications might be? --OuroborosCobra (talk) 15:57, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
