Ding Xuexiang was born in [[Nantong]], [[Jiangsu]] province, on 13 September 1962. He
Ding got his first job at the Shanghai Research Institute of Materials (SRIM) in 1982, where he first served as a research fellow. In 2007, he was promoted to become the secretary-general, and became a member of the Municipal Standing Committee.
