A lot of “21st century xxxx sportsmen” categories are being added to athletes whose careers ended in the 20th century. Is this appropriate? Once a sportsman, always one? Seems like unless the person is still active as a coach, executive, etc they shouldn’t appear in those categories, but perhaps others have a differing opinion Rikster2 (talk) 20:54, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
:If no other opinions, I will continue to remove the century sportsmen/sportswomen category for which the individual was not active. Rikster2 (talk) 18:06, 24 November 2024 (UTC)

:::I'm not a fan of trying to avoid wrapping as everyone's device is different – phones, laptops, different browsers etc. I understand that the official team logo has "S.E. Melbourne Phoenix", but general driveby readers shouldn't have to look elsewhere to find out what "S.E." stands for. I have never seen "R.G. Valley Vipers" be used to avoid that name wrapping. ::::The page name should be used. Don’t want to see people following this example and starting to use “LA Lakers” and the like. Rikster2 (talk) 15:54, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
::::Yep, that's fine. Will just use S.E. Melbourne for team pages and maps only on main pages. Alextigers (talk) 05:17, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

BRFA overlapping WikiProjects Basketball & College basketball
Line 82 ⟶ 84:
:The two projects have different scopes. WP:College basketball covers (primarily American) college basketball, while WP:Basketball covers professional leagues other than the National Basketball Association (NBA), FIBA play and anything else about the sport not explicitly covered by the other 2 basketball projects (college basketball and NBA). It is expected there will be some overlap, with an example being a player who plays college basketball then has a professional career in Spain. Rikster2 (talk) 15:49, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
::Yes, I expect there to be some overlap. However, <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline></syntaxhighlight> was blanketly added to all women's basketball, college and professional. Instead, <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline></syntaxhighlight> should have been added to pages without WikiProject Basketball, since there is no women parameter for WikiProject College basketball. &nbsp;&nbsp;<b>~</b>&nbsp;<span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva; font-size:16px;">Tom.Reding (talk ⋅dgaf)</span>&nbsp; 15:57, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
:::I'm only a light participant here. BurBut I'n not aware of the Basketball project explictly stating it's more of a men's basketball project. In any event, each project can decide their own scope per WP:PROJSCOPE.—Bagumba (talk) 16:15, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
:::@Tom.Reding: Can you state explicitly what was done that you are unsure should have been done? Is it that women's college basketball topics don't also need to be tagged under WikiProject Basketball? —Bagumba (talk) 16:28, 24 November 2024 (UTC)

:College basketball in the Philippines, while initially influenced by the Americans, is not a part of WP:CBBALL, so it falls under this {WP:B-BALL) project. Philippine college basketball articles usually follow guidelines set by US projects, but some are adjusted to the Philippine experience. I'd suggest to keep off the Philippine college basketball articles for now, up until it is agreed that they are included in WP:CBBALL. ::There may be confusion as the U.S. has the NCAA, but the Philippines also has the similarly named NCAA (Philippines). These are different organizations and act independently of each other. While the US NCAA can be said to be a governing body, the Philippine NCAA is more of like a "conference" in US sporting terminology, but with quite better powers than US conferences do. == BIG 3 consistency? ==

Hello, I was looking through some articles specifically Gary Payton, Allen Iverson, Rashad McCants, George Gervin, Nick Young (basketball), etc.

Some have big 3 as part of their information, some as part of their infobox, some have none at all. I don't want to edit them just to start an edit war, but I do want consistency. What's the resolution on Big 3? Should it be present? Should it be in the infobox? Tell me so I know which pages should edit Remi1771 (talk) 00:32, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

:Past discussions have said it shoudn't be in the infobox nor opening paragraph, and possibly not in the lead altogether (1 2) —Bagumba (talk) 14:33, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

Brandon Johns, Jr.
Can anyone tell me if Brandon Johns had done anything that would rise to the level of an infobox highlight during his international play to date.-TonyTheTiger <small>(T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD)</small> 04:31, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
