I know that several sources have mentioned this in passing, but I'm skeptical. There are earlier, more substantial sources about his early life (eg, [https://theathletic.com/2289045/2020/12/29/overlooked-out-of-high-school-carlik-jones-is-turning-heads-at-louisville/?amp=1]) that don't mention that at all. The [https://publications.provationsgroup.org/publications/2020-21-Louisville-Mens-Basketball-Guide/index_70.html#page=60 Louisville media guide] had lots of personal details, including his parents' names, but said nothing about this. :See [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hox38sKGaVI this video]. He is asked about his ties to South Sudan at 2:37, and says he is simply naturalized. [[User: Zagalejo|Zagalejo]] ([[User talk:Zagalejo|talk]]) 16:24, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
::Basic information to add to this article: information about Jones's family background and ethnic heritage, as well as exactly why Jones decided to be naturalized to play for the South Sudan national team. Also, is he a dual citizen (maintaining his U.S. citizenship), and does he live in the nation of South Sudan? If we aim to be encyclopedic, all of these things would already be included in this article.
