My information on the use of this mercury compound in zinc-air hearing aid button cells came to me by an electrochemical engineer at RayOVac, and the Chief Engineer at Phonak USA, the largest hearing aid mfr in the world and largest buyer of VARTA hearing aid batteries (private labeled Phonak in many countries), as when the ban went into effect in 5 states, they pushed it on everybody as the EU also banned it.
