Please note that Template:Infobox military conflict#Parameters states against "result" that "this parameter may use one of two standard terms: "X victory" or "Inconclusive"." The infobox has been amended to reflect this. Please read the template "result" guidance in full before amending or reverting. It would probably be best to discuss any proposed change here first to seek consensus. Thanks. Gog the Mild (talk) 21:59, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

Result, again.
Although the result is indeed disputed (and yes, I know the result has been brought up many times on this page), I still don't think it should be left to "Possibly Polish victory, Possibly Soviet victory".

The Aftermath and legacy seems to quite heavily support a Polish victory (and an obvious military victory).

- Lenin himself deemed the war to be a disastrous defeat for the Soviets.

- Sources which are not Polish or Russian tend to point towards either a Polish victory or an Inconclusive result (although there don't particularly seem to be many sources to prove this)

- Sources mention how this stopped the rapid spread of Communism (at least for quite a while)

- And to mention, Poland is the one who gained land from this specific war, not the USSR.

As for Russian and Polish historians declaring victory for their own countries, there don't seem to be any sources for this either.

Personally, I don't think it is valid to go by "Mostly deemed this result, but not always, so disputed".

Sure this should always be mentioned, but I still find it more fair to give the result mostly agreed upon.

"You're Polish, of course you'll have bias towards the result being a Polish victory." Sure I might, but this doesn't disprove my point in the slightest, the only thing this proves is that I am likely to bring this up.

In my opinion, the best way to resolve this issue would be to compare how many sources say each result. Whichever result seems to be the most common, should be the one put in the result.

Even with whatever possible new result there might be, "See Aftermath and legacy" should still be included next to it. Setergh (talk) 18:01, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
