The CRT used a carbon fibre bonnet and front seats to reduce weight, resulting in a kerb weight approximately {{convert\|150\|lb\|kg\|0\|abbr=on}} lower than an equivalently specified version of the regular M3 saloon. Production was limited to 67 cars, all numbered with a plaque on the dashboard.
