On January 25, 2011, it was announced Iron Man 2 was nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects. It will compete with Inception, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, Alice in Wonderland and Hereafter. It was also nominated for 4 VES Awards but lost to Inception. It managed to win a People's Choice Award, Hollywood Film Festival Award and other awards mostly for the visual effects, sound and Robert Downey Jr.'s performance as Tony Stark.
