Several attempts were made by then French Authorities to entice Monsieur Dadala, during his days of struggle for the merger, with gifts, wealth and rich settlements in India and in France. when these efforts were not fruitful, they dismissed him from service, humiliated him in front of his fellow officers and even tried to eliminate him. One day after the liberation of Yanam and back in Pondicherry, when Dadala was returning with a hundred volunteers of Bahoor commune and heading towards Cuddalore. A dozen French troops emerging from an ambush suddenly fired against him and his volunteers. Monsiuer Dadala was then at the rear of a column of volunteers. A volunteer who was beside him was shot dead. Another was wounded. He escaped miraculously.
Despite all odds, Dadala stood steadfastedly with integrity and dedication and turned down all the riches showered upon him. He flatly refused the lucrative French Citizenship either for him or any of his immediate family members, while at same time many other pro-merger leaders or their sons or daughter's have given in to take up French citizenships. Also Monsieur Dadala never even requested or recieved the huge employement benefits of his eighteen years of services as police officer in the French Government which is rightfully due to him.
