Population

edit

Hi Sathyalal, according to the Kochi article, it has a population of 1,660,000. The Thiruvananthapuram article says it has a population of 889,191. How is Thiruvananthapuram bigger than Kochi? And what does "largest city corporation" mean? —Khoikhoi 05:36, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:270px-IndiaMapUpdated.GIF

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:270px-IndiaMapUpdated.GIF. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:04, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Image:IndiaMapUpdated.GIF

edit

Hello, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I noticed you uploaded Image:IndiaMapUpdated.GIF and called it a {{wikipedia-screenshot}}. The problem is that this is not a picture of a Wikipedia page; it's a map of India. I think I tracked down the image you edited, and I changed the tag to indicate that I believe you meant to release the image under the GFDL. It would help a lot if you could clarify the licensing of this image. If you have questions, please let me know. —Bkell (talk) 02:29, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Nice to hear from you. I'm doing great, and hope you are too. No hard feelings about all the shuffle we had about the TVM-Kochi issue. You guys were indeed correct. Sathya, the Thiruvananthapuram district article is almost ready.. It needs an extensive peer review now. Before going for the official peer review, I request you to review it once..

Also the Thiruvananthapuram History needs expansion. Please help in that.

Image:IndiaMapUpdated.GIF

edit

Hi. When you uploaded Image:IndiaMapUpdated.GIF, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.

This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.

If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.

If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, and cannot make the image compliant with Wikipedia:Non-free content, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week. All other non-free images must follow these rules.

Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. Aksibot 06:06, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:India-political-map.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading File:India-political-map.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 09:16, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
