Annnunicating Angel (Around 1513)
Annunciating Angel is a chalk drawing on paper that was created in around 1513.
It is attributed by multiple commentators to Leornardo da Vinci. [1] [2]
This drawing has also been attributed to one of Leonardo's pupils. [3] It also been attribtued to Gian Giacomo Caprotti known as Salai. [4] [5]
The drawing is in a private collection. Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).
There is a small pinhole in the top of this sheet and it is specualted that this suggests that it was at one stage tacked up in a studio. [6]
Attribution
1st scr It has been commented that Annunicating Angel has been "...variously attributed to Leonardo da Vinci..." or to "...to one of his pupils..." [7]It is fufther commented that many people "...have accepted this drawing as Leonardo's..." . [8]
It has also been commmented that the same bluish paper that this drawing has been drawn on is similar to the paper on "...a number of anatomical studies" that were drawn around 1513 the same time that Annunicating Angel was dated to.[9]
Also that the model that the phallic drawing Annuniacting Angel has been based on is seen in many of leonardo's sketches. [10]
