Hello!
I am a new user, and I have finally decided to register and become an editor after literally years of doing nothing but browsing articles and the drama boards (although fun to read and to gain insight into the community, I sincerely hope to avoid actually participating in them!).
Although I have followed the various comings and goings of the project, I have never (until recently) actually made a substantial edit, intimidated as I was by the sheer scale of it all. However, after registering, the tutorial/suggested article makes learning the ropes a breeze. Mastering them, on the other hand... : )
If I make a mistake, please bear in mind I'm still learning the ropes (so please don't BITE my head off!) - please leave me a message and I will listen to your concerns and adjust appropriately, if I can : )
e: I have a certain familiarity with some of Wikipedia's internal processes and community customs (gleaned from years of lurking), although I need to stress that I am not a returning user in any way, shape, or form, nor have I edited previously in any substantial way (except for a few gnoming edits to test the waters as an IP)
I highly recommend the new Wikipedians task page on your homepage - it's great for sampling a range of things to do here!
