Litzelsdorf is a town in the district of Oberwart in Burgenland in Austria.
Litzelsdorf was formerly a part of Hungery and therefore the former Hungarian name was “Lödös” (pronounced: Lödösch).
Geography
The small town is located in the south of Burgenland.
History
The small town and whole Burgenland belonged to Hungary (Deutsch-Westungarn) till 1920/21. Because of the magyarization’s politic of the government the town had to use the Hungaria name “Lödös”. After the first World Ware Burgenland belonged again to Austria after hard negotiations in the treaties of St. Germain and Trianon. Since 1921 Litzelsdorf belongs to the new formed Burgenland.
Politics
Peter Fassl is mayor in Litzelsdorf (Austrian People's Party = ÖVP) and Martin Gerbafczits is vice mayor (Social Democratic Party of Austria = SPÖ).
Coats of Arms
The coat of arms is colored in blue and gold and divided into 3 parts. The first part is blue and shows a golden triangle with rays. This is a symbol for the trinity – and a column has been built a long time ago as a sign of adoring trinity. In the second part, which is colored in golden, a blue gearwheel can be seen and in the last part, coloured in blue ears (botany) can be seen.
