History for Sale singles

Was "Razorblade" from History for Sale never officially released as a single? It got plenty of radio play here in Austin, but of course that isn't a good indicator. For that matter I heard "Inner Glow" on many occasions as well. UnhandledException 21:43, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not sure, but it does seem "Razorblade" was a single; I also live in Austin, though, so I'm probably thinking it was for the same reason you are. That said, I've looked around and can't find any official singles for History for Sale other than "Calling You". jareha (comments) 06:02, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I wonder if "Razorblade" was released as a single under Brando before Universal picked up the album and re-released it. Probably impossible to find out for sure. UnhandledException 06:33, 17 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

MySpace

Blue October's MySpace friends and listens numbers will always be in flux. Why not have interested visitors just click the MySpace link at the bottom of the article and save ourselves the trouble of keeping both numbers up to date? With that question in mind I've removed the following:

Blue October's MySpace profile boasts 66,083 friends. The profile has a video of "Hate Me" as well as their appearance on Jay Leno. There have been 1,936,730 listens as of June 4, 2006.

jareha (comments) 05:57, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Totally agree. UnhandledException 16:36, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

The other Blue October

what about the british band by the same name?

Blue October formed in 1996 by Glen Wisbey & Barney Miller, released first song When you leave on A Different Drum compilation Synthpop Vs The World 1996. Signs to Utah based synthpop label A Different Drum March 1997. Release first single Incoming November 1997. Release debut album Incoming August 1998.

Signed to A Different Drum (Utah) in 1997

Albums

Incoming - Released 1998 Preaching Lies to the Righteous - Released - 2001 One Day Silver, One Day Gold - Released 2005

There should be another entry created, perhaps entitled "Blue October(UK)" We need more synthpop on Wikipedia. - M.R. Oct 27, 2006 6:15

Touring

The comment about Blue October "expanding" the area where they tour is inaccurate. I've seen them in Columbus,OH 4 times before Foiled was even recorded. Can anyone else support this? (ie has seen Blue October up north before Foiled came out?)69.81.150.217 04:06, 26 August 2006 (UTC)A.Y.Reply

The paragraph about touring is technically accurate. Whilst Blue October toured most of the USA prior to releasing Foiled, they never toured other countries. And originally the band did only tour in Texas and the midwest. - Keiv User:Keivspare

Genre

While the infobox lists them as alternative, they sound almost like a rebirth of new wave, or indietronic —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.174.121.174 (talk) 04:39, 15 December 2006 (UTC).Reply

According to the band they don't fit into any genre so they made up thier own. They call thier music "Bipolar Art Rock". You can watch the clip about it on MTV Buzzworthy Blog 5 things about Blue October. --Twilightmom (talk) 22:58, 15 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I recently edited the article since the "related artists" seemed way wrong. My edit was removed, possibly because of bad sourcing. I used artists suggested by Pandora, which seems very credible in that regard. If anyone has ideas as to what these similar artists should be, adding them would be a good contribution.

Semi Protection

This seems to be a little bit of a target. I have a to Rvv on it twice. Maybe semi-protecting it would be a good idea?--§Sir James Paul<<--wikiholic§ 22:24, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Best known for "Hate me"?

"The band is best known for the single "Hate Me" from the album Foiled." Is this statement still accurate? A good argument could be made that "Into The Ocean" is the band's signature piece. LayneJohnson 01:17, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Given the singles' similar chart positions, I went ahead and edited the article to say they're best known for both singles. Poshua 02:40, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Two Blue Octobers?

There's a disambiguation notice at the top of this article pointing to Blue October (British band), saying that it's a different band with the same name, but that article has the same band members and songs listed. What's going on? Has the British group's page been contaminated with info that belongs here, or is there even such a band? ErWenn 18:30, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I took care of it. --Atomicskier 20:50, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Recent edits

I cleared out a few recent edits that included the creation of a "Critisism" section. Usually if a band's page features such a section, it is because of the band's controversial message or actions. It is not in keeping with Wikipedia's style to cite critisisms of a band's creative merits unless said critisism comes from a well-known, authoritative source, or one who's celebrity status is such that their opinion of a band garners wide public interest. In other words, a bash from an internet blog and a local paper do not warrent citation. Lastly, it was writen on February 20 that "Foiled" was certified platinum on February 21. This may be true but obviously the dates don't make sense.--Atomicskier 17:00, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism

User: 75.18.11.82's reinsertion of the edits noted in the above paragraph is now bordering on vandalism. The profain writing is a clear violation of the NPOV standard as well as several other Wiki standards. I have issued a first warning on this user's talk page.--Atomicskier 16:44, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Pictures of the band

Does anyone have any so we can put on the article? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.89.176.176 (talk) 19:30, 16 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

I have several photos that I took when I went to the concert in March. I have been trying the get them into the commons area but not having much luck. I have excellent photos of Justin, Jeremy and Matt. CB left too soon and Ryan does not allow photos after the show. If you can provide more simple instructions on how to add photos I will get them up ASAP --Twilightmom (talk) 22:47, 15 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Blue October From Texas??

I was just wondering if it was just me but doesnt Blue October have somewhat of an english flair. And i swear that the Vocalist has an accent. But then on the behind the scenes it dissapears. Anyone else know whats going on??? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.134.100.213 (talk) 04:14, 20 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

You may be thinking of the wrong Blue October. This is about the American band Blue October, from Texas. There is another Blue October from England. The band from Texas has no accent. CascadiaTALK|HISTORY 14:22, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, its definently this blue october i listen to them all the time and many other people have agreed that they do have some kinda of accent but its origins are unkown since they are from texas.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the British sound (if you want to call it that) is just their style. People say that about the same thing about The Killers. I think it was Rolling Stone that jokingly called them "America's Best British Band." Sometimes American bands sound British, sometimes British bands sound American. Who cares? --Atomicskier 01:48, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Justin of Blue October has been described as being the next Peter Gabriel... although I really cannot tell an accent. CascadiaTALK|HISTORY 15:31, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think their band logo can be found their website, any idea how to upload it and put into the infobox? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.89.176.176 (talkcontribs) 15:27, 24 March 2007.
