Marokopa

Awamarino is a small village in the Waikato Region of New Zealand. It is located in sparsely populated country some 12 kilometres to the south of the Kawhia Harbour, on the banks of the Marokopa River. The nearest towns are Te Kuiti and Piopio.

History

Awamarino was initially settled in the 19th century by forestry workers. It has been predominantly a farming locale since the early 20th century.
