- Comment: As a BLP, the draft lacks detail about Pickard's life (upbringing, education, career, etc). Bobbi Pickard is a British human rights and LGBTQIA+ rights campaigner.
Life
editPickard knew she was trans at a very young age[1] and struggled for many years with suicide attempts.[2] She first came out to friends in 1991[3] and in 2016 she was able to medically transition.[2]
She is the founder and chief executive[4][5] of Trans in the City, a UK based not-for-profit organisation championing equality for trans and non-binary people in business[6] around the world.[7] She was the first openly trans person to close the London Stock Exchange,[7] is a patron of the LGBTQIA+ parents charity FFLAG[8][9] and a Golden champion of the LGBTQIA+ homelessness charity Stonewall Housing.[8][10] In the past she has been a trustee for Mermaids[5] and an ambassador for MindOut.[11] She has raised several hundred thousand pounds for trans charities since 2016.[12]
Accolades and awards
editIn 2019 Pickard was included in PwC's Stonewall 50 Inspirational Role Models List,[13] was #1 in the Yahoo Finance OUTstanding 50 LGBT+ Future Leaders’ List[14] and received the Rainbow Honours LGBTQ Champion Award.[2][15]
In 2020 Pickard became British LGBT Awards Nestle Diversity Champion,[16] placed #4 in the Yahoo Finance OUTstanding 50 LGBT+ Future Leaders’ List[17] and #14 in the Pride Power List.[18]
In 2021, Pickard was named Diversity Hero at the European Diversity Awards,[19] and placed #12 in the Pride Power List.[20]
Pickard was named Stonewall Changemaker of the Year[21] in 2022.
