TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Agency decided to restrict the number of vehicles crossing the area of Tebet Eco Park in South Jakarta because it will be designated as a low-emission zone (LEZ), said the agency head Syafrin Liputo.
“When the park reopens, it will automatically take effect fully,” said Syafrin at the City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, July 11, 2022.
Previously, the Jakarta Parks and Forest Agency announced the park closure on Tuesday, June 14, following residents’ complaints about street vendors occupying the street and illegal parking that disrupted the traffic of people residing near the park.
Syafrin explained that the vehicle restriction in the low-emission zone applies to two streets, namely Jalan Tebet Timur Raya and Jalan Tebet Barat Raya, every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday.
The only vehicles allowed to pass the two roads are public transportation, non-motorized vehicles, and vehicles belonging to local residents that are identified with certain stickers.
According to Syafrin, all public transportation in the capital city has conducted regular emission tests, which are twice a year. If the vehicle emission threshold exceeds the low-emission limit, it will not pass the regular test.
The trial of vehicle restrictions in the LEZ of Tebet Eco Park commenced on Saturday-Sunday.
