The term 'extrajudicial executions' is used elsewhere, and would also be okay here, but almost makes it seem like some kind off process was taking place; it was rule of the mob, nothing more. undo

Unfortunately, this section is not sourced, so we don't have the original to work from, but the word 'populaire' in connection with the épuration sauvage is very clearly 'mob' (or 'vigilante'); as for the word 'convictions' we don't know what the original said, but 'mob justice' or 'vigilante justice' work well here, as the extrajudicial executions in the next sentence proves. undo

'Jewish Question' (singular) is the pre-Nazi politico-philosophical debate in Germany and other countries about whether and how to integrate Jews into European societies, that ultimately led under Nazi Germany to the Final Solution. 'Jewish Questions' is a poor, literal translation for 'Questions juives' which is a governmental agency for local 'Jewish affairs'. undo
