Hello, and welcome! There is the file upload wizard, and there are two options when uploading a file: "Upload your own or a freely licensed file" uploads to Wikimedia Commons, while "Upload a non-free file" uploads locally to this wiki; the atter must comply with the non-free content criteria; I would recommend using the first option.
