I would like to know why the Targets section has gone, which I myself wrote (or the most part of it). It was well written and offered a great deal more information on the targets themselves, their professions, their habits etc. and I am quite peeved that after being up close to the original release date of the game, someone has stripped it away without consultation. I thought people we're invited to expand Wikipedia, not deminish it. |

I know it seems like a bit of a redundant fact, but should the article mention that the Eve sings badly sung version of Tomorrow Never Dies by Swan Lee? PlausibleSarge (talk) 07:12, 10 January 2011 (UTC) |

:Yes, expanding Wikipedia is why we are here, not adding unnecessary info. Also, all of that info was game guide type information, and, once again, totally irrelevant. I died overhauled the article with official information from the website. Anything that was covered previously is included here, albeit in the official text. - TheCommie |

I see two potential problems with this: |
1) The article now reads like an Eidos press release |

2) The actual text is likely to be copyrighted, and its appearance here may be a violation of that copyright |

The throat is not slit, it shows marks of strangulation. That's why it's called "Classically Executed" -- strangulation by wire is the classic method in Hitman, not slitting the throat. |

Making 47 stand up is accomplished by moving the left analog stick back and forth, or randomly pressing the WASD keys. It's a shame that some wiki nazis out there think they're so cool because they figured it out and they don't want others knowing. Knowing to do this is an essential part of the game; the game is incomplete without doing this. It's imperative knowledge. |

*No, the song in the end credits is the original song by Swan Lee. The interpretation of the song in the game, the karaoke version, is by Barbara Bernád, who did the voice acting in the game, though I don't know which characters she voiced.Bwanaunsignedhype 17:15, 5 January 2007 (UTC) |

My edits were reverted for no apparent reason. "Lord Tobi" reverted them and then told me to read Wikipedia:Citing_sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability. Yet he appears to have not read that himself; from the latter: |

== Guns == |
"In some cases, editors may object if you remove material without giving them time to provide references; consider adding a citation needed tag as an interim step." |
Where do you get that the elephant gun is a BAR? And if it is indeed a BAR rather than just a gun that greatly resembles a BAR it is not a 1918 and probably shouldn't be linked, one of the lines in the 1918 BAR article states no relation to the modern hunting rifle that a Safari is. Highlandlord 11:57, 1 July 2006 (UTC) |
In contrast this editor (following me), quite ignorantly, reverts all my edits on 3 separate articles with no citation tag even given. Furthermore, Wikipedia does not require a citation for every single claim or edit. That would be preposterous, only for "material whose verifiability is challenged or likely to be challenged". I don't see that as applicable to my edits since the information I added is so well known, furthermore, I did provide a source. :For the record, I'm not 'following' this user; all Hitman pages (and, consequently, their talk pages) are on my watchlist due to vandalism on prior occasions. I did read both guidelines cited, and alleged limited-availability physical content does apply to material that may be challenged. It is not 'well known' as anyone who does not own it might have never heard of it. What is unlikely to be challenged are facts like that the Earth is round, that the sky is blue, and that 2 + 2 = 4. |

:Yes. That's still horrific abuse of English. It should be "similar to" not "similar with", and using "that of the" and "target's" together is redundant duplication of the possessive. |

I've added a section talking about the setting and the locations chosen for the game in the page. I've included quotes too. The source material for this information comes from a YouTube video that Edios Interactive gave to ANMTv in 2005. == Trivia related to 47 "becoming more human" == |
== Development is almost just saying what it was released for and when == |
Deleted this: "Many people have noticed tears in 47's eyes after he snaps the neck of his pet bird, that he sometimes pets in cutscenes, when he sees that that the intruder in his hideout is only his boss Diana. This supports the claim that 47 is becoming more and more human with every game." |
Anyone who has played Hitman 2:Silent Assassin would dispute that. The plot revolves around 47 trying to rescue a priest. Silent Assassin concludes with 47 deciding that he was created to be an assassin, and he cannot be a "good guy". In Blood Money, 47 kills an innocent postman in a cutscene without a second thought. The player is also required to kill an innocent reporter and a priest in the last level. He is not getting "more human", on the contrary, he is more of an emotionless killer than ever before. I personally did not notice the tears either. I actually took the bird scene as an illustration of how quickly 47 is willing to sacrife his "pet" if it will benefit himself. I also rewrote the trivia on his new tie, as the previous version suggested that "he is getting more human, as illustrated in his better fashion sense" and also claimed that his tie changes from level to level, which it does not.--68.149.181.145 09:06, 10 July 2006 (UTC |

Totally agree. With regard to the tear, There is no tear. Ive recorded that FMV and played it over a few times and there is no such thing. I have the PC version but I highly doubt its in console versions either |
:When people say 47 is becoming more human, they don't mean a straight linear development, let alone 47 becoming a "good guy." (What would be the point of that?) So yes, even in Blood Money he has his merciless moments, but I think overall we're getting a more multifacted picture of his personality. Perhaps "interiority" or "personality" is a more accurate way to describe his devleopment than simply "becoming more human," which is a little vague. Tear or no tear, the pet bird bit also adds to this picture. After all he was shown caring for the pet throughout the game until he had to snap its neck. |
== Did this cutscene actually happen? == |
This is a comment about the EVE assassin character in the Heaven and Hell mission: |
A cut-scene demonstrates her mounting a victim before killing him by repeatedly stabbing him with a knife. |
I played through the entire game but don't remember seeing this cutscene. If it is true, is this a conditional cutscene which could be passed over? I would hate to think my memory is going on me but i honestly don't remember seeing this cutscene at all. |
:Yes, that cutscene is in the game but the article should clarify it. If you choose to approach her, she will ask you to follow her, implying that she wants to have sex. If you follow her into the CIA agent's office, a cutscene will show her turning around and stabbing you multiple times. I'll clarify that. --C civiero 03:23, 27 August 2006 (UTC) |

In Hitman: Codename 47 directory I've found a file named "resources.xml" (C:\Hitman - Codename 47\Setup\Locale\language-English.zip). There are all the game dialogues, mission briefings and all the game's text. In that file, I've found some really weird sentences, that aren't involved in the game, or I couldn't find them anywhere in the game... They are: |
* (Possibly in "The Setup" mission) "Freeze - let me see some ID! Real slow now!" |
* (Possibly in "The Setup" mission) "Hey - you there. Stand still! Who are you?" |
* (Possibly in "The Setup" mission) "Stop! Police - identify yourself!" |
* (Possibly in "The Setup" mission) "Tango 6 - 3 Delta - 1 Yankee. Proceed with caution. Suspect is armed and dangerous!" (maybe a talk between SWAT members) |
* (Possibly in "Meet Your Brother" mission) "You - along with your brothers - are my true children. Now rid me of that rambunctious renegade!" (maybe a talk between Ort. Meyer and Mr. 48 clones) |
There are many other sentences too, but I'm most worried about these mission descriptions in laptop: |
* (Possibly at the end of the game) "Your mission is over. Surrender your self to the police and await further instructions. We will contact you. Diana" |
* (Possibly at the end of the game) "ABORT - ABORT - ABORT RETURN TO BASE IMPENDING DANGER THE AGENCY WILL DISAVOW YOU RETURN IMMEDIATELY" |
* (Possibly at the end of the game) "ABORT - ABORT - ABORT SEVERE DANGER DO NOT ATTEMPT FURTHER ADVANCES THIS IS AN ORDER" |
Everybody knows that when 47 kills Ort. Meyer, the game is over, and there's no after mission description in laptop. What are those sentences? |
Write everything in the world you know about this sentences, please! I'm in turmoil for this problem since 2002! I WILL AWARD THE USER THAT HELPS ME SOLVING THIS PROBLEM! --Aeternus 17:29, 27 August 2006 (UTC) |

> I would expect that those sentences relate to an element of the game's last levels, which was planned by Io-I, but cut out in the final version. Maybe the developers tried to incorporate multiple endings into the game, or even a different ending than the official one. The "ABORT ABORT" sentences look like the Agency had realised the worrying connection between 47's targets (all of them were in the French Foreign Legion), and ordered 47 to escape from the Sanitarium (and that would have been the ending, maybe?). "Surrender yourself" could have been another possible ending, or the planned real ending. I'm not sure what the proper term is, but it's sort of like a film's deleted scenes. Io-I obviously decided not to go through with the ideas; I wouldn't worry too much about them. |
Then again, I don't know for certain. Send Io-I an e-mail, if you're really interested. |

I did some research to find the name of the music played in the "Curtains Down" level. I posted my findings on the Tosca page, but the opera nazis (lol) told me to shove it. So, is there room for this somewhere? |
"In the video game Hitman: Blood Money, the score "Come è lunga l'attesa!" from Tosca is being rehearsed in the level titled "Curtains Down". The production in the game has apparently been updated to take place during the First World War and the actors are all seen in German uniforms and distinct Pickelhaube helmets. One of the targets is an opera singer, the other target is an important figure watching from the loge who is the performer's lover; in addition to being his business (child prostitution ring) partner. If the player chooses so, he can replace the blank gun used for the execution scene with a real firearm that looks identical to the prop, or even take the executioner's uniform and play it himself. The end result is similar to the last scene in Tosca, where the believed fake firing squad is real." |

The throat is not slit, it shows marks of strangulation. That's why it's called "Classically Executed" -- strangulation by wire is the classic method in Hitman, not slitting the throat.

[edit]My edits were reverted for no apparent reason. "Lord Tobi" reverted them and then told me to read Wikipedia:Citing_sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability. Yet he appears to have not read that himself; from the latter:
"In some cases, editors may object if you remove material without giving them time to provide references; consider adding a citation needed tag as an interim step."
Hitman Player (talk) 16:46, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- For the record, I'm not 'following' this user; all Hitman pages (and, consequently, their talk pages) are on my watchlist due to vandalism on prior occasions.
- The next step in this issue would be to seek a reliable source confirming these statements, then inserting both simultaneously. If this really is as well-known as stated, it would be easy to find a reference on any major gaming website, like Eurogamer, GameSpot, IGN, etc. In case you need administrator attention for this, we can ping the VG-focused admins Ferret and Izno. - Material removed is challenged by definition. Then it is your WP:BURDEN to produce a sufficient source. --Izno (talk) 01:37, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
New additions to the page
[edit]I've added a section talking about the setting and the locations chosen for the game in the page. I've included quotes too. The source material for this information comes from a YouTube video that Edios Interactive gave to ANMTv in 2005. The YouTube video is a recording of the video itself and I cannot find the original video anymore. I referenced the YouTube page that the video is on as the main source until I, or someone else, can link the appropriate site and video. WikiPolice047 (talk) 17:23, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Development is almost just saying what it was released for and when
[edit]It could have some more in that section in my opinion. MUNCHburrito (talk) 18:41, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
