Temara (Arabic: تمارة) is a coastal city in Morocco, it is part of the Wilaya Rabat -Salé , and is located directly south of Rabat on the Atlantic coast, in the suburban area of the capital. The city has 225,497 inhabitants (2004). Twinnings connect them with Saint Germain en Laye (France). The city has beautiful beaches and a small pleasure port.
History
Témara was founded in the 12 Century (1130-1163) by the Almohads Sultan Abd al-Mumin by building a mosque there, and educational organization of the theological sciences. Five centuries later, the great Sultan ALAOUITE Mulai Ismail around the mosque, built the current walland make from Témara a Ribat (casern). Later, it is the sultans Mulai Abd ar-Rahman (1822-1859) and Moulay Abdul Aziz (1894-1908), these institutions through a citadel completed (Kasbah de guiche Oudaïa) as religious and military camps.
Economy
This city has enormous strengths of natural and human resources. In fact, Temara alloted bythe natural and human resources: railways, water resources, forest, soil quality, road and infrastructure, proximity to the two main cities (administratively Rabat and economically Casablanca ). Industry: Two main zones share the essence of the industrial units in the city of Témara. The first in the direction of Casablanca. Their current total area of 120 ha, extensible to 300 Ha work 55 industrial units in this zone, the more clean industry sectors (textiles, packaging, Druckereiund food). The second industrial zone is at the other end of town in the direction of Rabat here. It is the industrial zone ATTASNIA, its surface is less important (20 hectares), with 23 industrial units (textiles, electronics, chemicals ...).
