Pac's Life is the sixth posthumously released studio album from the late hip hop icon Tupac Shakur, commemorating the 10 year anniversary of the death of the late poet, activist, actor, and hip-hop icon. It was released on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 in the United States and Monday, November 20, 2006 in Europe. The album features guest appearances from Ashanti and T.I., who appear on the title track "Pac's Life", and Krayzie Bone, who appears on the album's first single "Untouchable".

A broad range of artists contributed to the album, including Ashanti, T.I., Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Papoose, Keyshia Cole, Chamillionaire, Lil' Scrappy, Outlawz, Big Syke, Young Buck and more.

T.I. and Ashanti were involved in the single "Pac's Life," which was filmed at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts. The World Premiere of "Pac's Life" was on at 7:30 PM on BET's Access Granted on Wednesday, November 22nd. The video featured on BET's behind the scenes of the filming of "Pac's Life". The album debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200 charts with about 159,000 units sold.

This was Shakur's sixth posthumous created album, but not the last, another studio album is planned for release in 2008.

Album promotion

A contest has also been underway to celebrate "Pac's Life," at http://www.tupaccontests.com/, which allows Tupac fans to submit homemade videos and artwork. The prizes range from being involved in working on Tupac's next video, to also be published in an upcoming book for a 2007 release. Videos, Artwork, Poetry, and Essays are the different types of submissions for the "Pac's Life" contest, with the winners receiving exclusive prizes

A week of events was introduced for the celebration of the release of Pac's Life. It kicked off on Saturday (November 11) at the Vaknin Gallery with "All Eyez On Me: Hip Hop's Legendary Performers And Photographers," where photographers displayed their material.

On Tuesday (November 14), at the same venue, a VIP party previewing Pac's Life took place from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

The events were then shifted to the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts (TASCA) where coat drives were held on Wednesday, November 15 and Friday, November 17. Everyone who brought a winter coat received two admission tickets to the Pac's Life album release party.

On Monday (November 20), a "Pac's Life Teen Art" competition took place from 6-8 PM, where children ages 13-17 competed in an art exhibit contest. All art from the exhibit will be posted in TASCA for the month of December. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

The events concluded on November 21 with Pac's Life album release party from 9:00 PM - 1:00 AM.

Recording

All of the vocals for the tracks on Pac's Life were recorded during 2Pac's Makaveli period including "Untouchable" which was recorded only 3 days before his death; exceptions to this would be the songs "Soon As I get Home" and the UK and Japan Bonus tracks "Dear Mama Remix" and "Scared Straight". On the original of "Untouchable" you notice that 2Pac is heavily intoxicated and performing in freestyle. Scared Straight was recorded in 1991.
