Kober, can you also make the same location map (example as you did on Tsageri to the article Sukhumi? Thanks in advance Iberieli (talk) 19:28, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shamakhi Dancers

Please make your contribution on Shamakhi Dancers page. What can you add concerning Georgian dances that are in the repertoir of Az. Republic's traditional dance groups? I have remarked some Georgian dances performed by the Azerbaijan Republic dancers. Please not that real Azerbaijan is found in North Iran. Genuine name for Soviet Azerbaijan prior to occupation by the Russians was Arran. Azerbijan and Republic of Azerbaijan are distinct matters and their cultura are different. After being established as Soviet Azerbaijan they started to create own "unic" cultur and adopted many traditions from their neighbours.--Arkankipcak (talk) 08:59, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Arkankipcak. Well, I will have to consult some sources before adding anything valuable to the topic as I'm not an expert on the subject. As for the Azerbaijan issue, I have to respectfuly disagree with you. I know an Iranian sentiment on this, but to me both the Rep. of Azerbaijan and Iranian Azerbaijan are equally "real". Of course, nation-making is a big impetus to the new or renewed identity, but the Azeri culture and identity has formed in a multi-cultural setting. The Iranian infuence was, without doubt, immense on all South Caucasian countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia. Some peoples consolidated at an earlier stage of history, other did that later; but this is not the reason to refuse the already formed nations their identity. Best regards, --KoberTalk 06:20, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good job

Hi, just thought I'd let you know, as a courtesy, that I've translated Tamar of Georgia into Finnish. Great work! I'm eagerly waiting for your next major undertaking. :) --Olli (talk) 16:30, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Photo issue

Dear Kober, as per your question, its a photograph of the icon and I'm not sure how the copyright status can be clarified or categorized in this case. You are nominating this amazing article as a feature and therefore, I think it would be appropriate to remove the image from the article in order to avoid any further delays or concerns which might affect the process of acquiring the "feature article status" for Tamar of Georgia. Im sorry if it caused any frustration and delay. Thanks. Iberieli (talk) 19:51, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kober. realy great job. a little thing. according to the Georgian wikipedia she was died in Tabakhmela and the celebrat "Tamaroba" since? Geagea (talk) 20:24, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Kober. it is true, but a lot of Georgian jew surnames are only for jew. Geagea (talk) 20:49, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kutais governorate

Hi! You have uploaded a map of Kutais governorate to the commons ([1]). Since there exists a better version (in terms of resolution) that had been uploaded (by me :)) more than a year before I'd like to ask you whether the former could be deleted. Or maybe I don't understand something.. Alæxis¿question? 15:11, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kober, sure, but let me know whose image I should include and how many images we can put together. I will use the French people example. Iberieli (talk) 19:27, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Map of Tbilisi

1. First, about Georgians maybe also Giorgi Saakadze.

Giorgi Saakadze can be deemed as much as positive as negative figure in Georgian history, he is too controversial to be included in that gallery IMHO. Iberieli (talk) 22:17, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2. Any way, you upload this map. Can you upload to commons?

3. Thiere is no map of the raions of Tbilisi. I notice that This list (Dzveli Tbilisi, Vake-Saburtalo, Didube-Chugureti, Gldani-Nadzaladevi, Isani-Samgori, Didgori) is for the Tbilisi metropolis that includes villages ect that maybe need article about it. also it needed different map for the Tbilisi city and Tbilisi metropolis (like it is in the Georgian wikipedia). Hi

I actually just blocked both of them, since both of them were reverting at least 10 times on April 9 tragedy. I was thinking of protecting the pages but there were too many of them, so I figured the best way to stop the disruption would be to block them both. But I'm assuming that both of them will return once their block expires anyways -- hopefully not to start reverting again. Khoikhoi 06:28, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just saw his comment. I'll warn him for personal attacks as well. Khoikhoi 06:31, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've actually decided to change the duration to 48 hours. Khoikhoi 06:49, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

well none of us are in the state of editing wiki after carpet bombing with cluster bombs of our cities and towns, we will try our best to maintain the NPOV quality on Georgia related articles. Iberieli (talk) 15:26, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnic Cleansing in Samachablo

Asked about his own earlier comments warning of a risk of ethnic cleansing by Russian forces in the territories, Kouchner responded: "I hope that didn't happen overnight. But there has already been evidence that the armies are pushing away the Ossetians who favored Georgia, and in a certain way, yes, an ethnic cleansing is taking place." Template:Administrative divisions of Georgia

Hi Kober, thanks for clarifying the recognition of Abkhazia & South Ossetia. I had seen somewhere on wikipedia that Belarus had recognised their independence. Do you know if this was completely erroneous or if that country has any meaningful plans to do so? ʄ!¿talk? 13:33, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me for interfering, but I come hither for the same topic: Belarus has not yet recognised the two countries, but the leader of the progovernment party and many other MPs have acclaimed their independence and there will be a summit of the CSTO member states on 5 September and I would advise Kober not to replace "partially recognised" with "recognised only by Russia" - in 8 days we shall see how other proponents of the indepence there are, therefore are such edits futile and incoherent with the recognition by the legally elected Hamas governemnt of the Palestinian territories. Bogorm (talk) 14:01, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not a crystal-ball. Let's see what happens on Sept. 5 and then change the wording. As of now, the entities remain recognized only by Russia. And the Hamas did not recognize them but welcomed Russia's move. --KoberTalk 14:06, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thanks for the correction on the Venezuelan position: my mistake sorry. As far as Cuba's position is concerned, I have found a better source for the official document and have updated it accordingly. Orthorhombic (talk) 11:15, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for your polite response. Here is a fuller excerpt from Castro's statement:

"When the USSR disintegrated, South Ossetia, annexed by force by Georgia, with which it shared neither nationality nor culture, retained its status as an autonomous republic with its local authorities and its capital, Tskhinvali. At dawn on August 8, Georgia, in complicity with the U.S. government, launched its forces on South Ossetia in an attempt to occupy the capital, which it publicly announced on the same day that the Olympic Games were inaugurated in Beijing.

It is a false claim that Georgia is defending its national sovereignty.

The Russian troops were in South Ossetia legally, as a force for guaranteeing the peace, as is known by the international community; they have not committed any illegality.

The request for the invaders to withdraw is just, and our government supports it."

I agree with you entirely about the term "autonomy". There are many autonomous subjects of the Russian Federation that are not independent states. The use of the word "invaders" is perhaps the critical term here. You cannot invade your own territory. Castro clearly views SO as independent therefore. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Orthorhombic (talkcontribs) 11:27, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but my point is that they are claiming not to have made any change in their position. Orthorhombic (talk) 11:36, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One more point as well, you claim that this is Original Research, but my having retrieved a statement from the President of Cuba is no different from any other user having retrieved a statement from any other official government website. Is that original research? Perhaps the whole article should be deleted! Orthorhombic (talk) 11:40, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Education

Hi Kober! I'm glad that you are contributing again, I was rather concerned at one point. I wish there was something concrete I could do.

Anyway, I've now completely rewritten the Finnish article on Georgia (it was about time). It's getting rather long, but I'd still like to add a chapter on education. However, I'm having a hard time finding good, up-to-date sources on the net. So, if you know a good source (structure, most important institutions etc.) I'd be happy to know about it – or, if you have the time at some point, maybe you could write a chapter here and I could translate it (there's nothing at the moment). There's no rush :) --Olli (talk) 16:40, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Kober, I'll get something together myself or perhaps wait for your text :) --Olli (talk) 18:36, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh thank you :) Quite a coincidence, there are so few Georgians here, fifty perhaps? I myself was born in Helsinki and live here still. Has your sister lived in Jyväskylä for long, have you had the chance to visit here? --Olli (talk) 19:10, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I've translated your text. I left a bit on the "Certified Specialist's Programme" out, because I was unsure of it's translation.
I hope your sister and her family are enjoying Jyväskylä (and succesfully adapting to the Finnish climate :) ---Olli (talk) 19:27, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Hey Kober, do you know if the borders of Samachablo and the South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast are identical? The former article says that Samachablo is "mostly controlled by the Republic of South Ossetia". Khoikhoi 02:45, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Kober. The Kartli article currently gives the wrong impression that Samachablo = South Ossetia, do you think you could help me clarify there?
Btw, I was talking with Luis recently, and he thinks the number of people killed during the ethnic cleansing in Abkhazia of the 90s was around 10,000, not 30,000. What do you think? Khoikhoi 07:43, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also see Talk:South_Ossetia#Attaining_NPOV. Khoikhoi 07:46, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see. Do you know which independent analysts say this (just so I can add the sources to the article). Khoikhoi 09:59, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
