Template:Infobox Internet celebrity VenetianPrincess (real name Jodie-Amy Rivera) [1] is a YouTube personality, who gained fame in 2006 and then in 2007 became one of the first few YouTube video creators to participate in its revenue sharing program. She is paid to create videos in addition to receiving ad revenue.[2] Her videos have been viewed a total of over 18 million times.[3]

Background

She studied opera as a coloratura soprano at the New England Conservatory of Music, in Boston, Massachusetts. She has since performed in several professional stage productions throughout the United States, including the touring production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of The Opera” in which she played Christine.

Her official biography lists her extensive background in modeling, including her most recent title of Miss Massachusetts State Queen.[4]

Videos

She became popular for her episodic series “The Princess Chronicles” (formerly known as "The Disclosed Series." Episodes 1 - 8 keep the title of "Disclosed" as those installments disclose the story of the princess’s life in her Venetian palace. "The Princess Chronicles" begin at Episode 9 and start the story of her adventures around the world. Each episode introduces new magical and eccentric characters, all played by VP disguised in elaborate costumes.

VP has become well-known for her identifiable style in intricate editing and visual effects. She shoots her videos in her living room in front of a green screen and claims to have no help with filming or post-production. She has cited Tim Burton and Terry Gilliam as favorite directors.[5]

Her YouTube channel also consists of random comedic skits, original music videos, and a murder mystery series called “Cirque de Mystère,” which takes place in a traveling circus of the early 1940s.

On July 9th, 2008 VP made a spoof of Miley Cyrus' 7 Things video. The original song was "the 7 things I hate about you", VP's version spoke for the masses as it covered the 7 things (and more) guys don't have to do, that females do. The majority of close to 42,000 comments state that they prefer VP's parody version over the original. The video has over 4 million views in less than a month, making it the #2 most viewed video of the month. It has also been favorited 58,000 times- making it #1 top favorited of all videos on YouTube this month, and one of the most favorited videos of all time. It's 42,000 comments make it one of the most discussed videos of all time. [6]
