Wall Street Journal

There is no rule specific to the Wall Street Journal, altho their may be one regarding pay sites. I'm not familiar of another example of where a paid or member's only site was allowed. As per User:Jfdwolff, thats prob a losing cause, he's a popular user and active arbiter. That means he has loads of power. If you are dead set on fussing w him (which I strongly suggest you not), you would want to see Wikipedia:Dispute Resolution. I suggest you move on, and find another article to edit, its more fun to get along w people anyhow, and conflict rarely changes anyones mind. Sam Spade 00:12, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It is a good thing I am anonymous in view of the defamatory remarks he just made.
But thank you for the advice nonetheless. Joaquin Murietta (talk · contribs)

Hi Joaquin, just to follow up on comments above, on talk:Gefitinib and on my talk page. I agree that I've been unfair to you; the abusiveness and defamation are a matter of perception, so I'll leave that to you.

I'm very sorry to hear you are a patient, and I hope your progress so far has been satisfactory. Unfortunately, Wikipedia is frequently invaded by people advertising for drugs, and I violated "assume good faith" when I gave you the treatment that I normally reserve for people pushing drug advertising. I apologise for these remarks, and I hope you have noticed that I'm working towards a positive solution on gefitinib.

The disagreement started about the WSJ, and the response on the talk page has generally been that unless the article borrows heavily from that particular article, a free alternative is preferable. In fact, many readers of Wikipedia may like background information without wanting to pay $ 2.50 for the article in question.

I hope my response has been adequate. Please let me know if there are other issues. I hope to contribute to other articles together. JFW | T@lk 16:40, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, please avoid agitating against me on unrelated pages, such as here. This is not helpful. JFW | T@lk 16:49, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"I would not nominate you for the welcoming committee..." - believe it or not, I've welcomed my share of new users (and am a member of the welcoming committee) and helped a fair number of them with the ropes of Wikipedia. I'm glad you've accepted my apology.
From your work on the GIST page it seems you've got an interest in tyrosine kinase inhibitors. I developed an interest in these drugs when learning that imatinib mesylate was effective against malignant GIST, and have been trying to keep up-to-date with the research since then. There was a comprehensive review in the New England Journal of Medicine (last July) that summarises the state of the art. It is a massive breakthrough in cancer treatment, and it is my personal conviction that Brian Druker will get either a Lasker Award or the Nobel Prize within 10 years for his work on imatinib mesylate.
