The West Herzegovina Canton is one of the 10 cantons of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Geography and population

It is located in the south of the country. It has a total area of 1362 skm and 81,523 inhabitants. The center of canton government is Široki Brijeg. Citizens of the county are mostly ethnic Croats as they used to be prior the war (see the map!).

The canton is divided into the municipalities of Grude, Široki Brijeg, Ljubuški and Posušje.

The flag of the former Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia, which includes the coat of arms in the center.

The flag and coat of arms of the canton are same as flag and coat of arms of the former Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia. Canton 10, another canton in Bosnia and Herzegovina, also used this flag and coat of arms.That coat of arms is used on the badges of local police department and plates of the local instituitions. The flag is used all over the county.
