"Wikipedia's articles are no place for strong views. Or rather, we feel about strong views the way that a natural history museum feels about tigers. We admire them and want our visitors to see how fierce and clever they are, so we stuff them and mount them for close inspection. We put up all sorts of carefully worded signs to get people to appreciate them as much as we do. But however much we adore tigers, a live tiger loose in the museum is seen as an urgent problem." --WP:TIGER

Dispute resolution

Guy, just in case no one else has done it, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the work you're doing at DRN and to welcome you to the dispute resolution community. Best regards, TransporterMan (TALK) 19:33, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please let me explain

About the POV tag on the Clementi page, that is. I agree with you, myself. But the POV tag dates from Talk:Suicide of Tyler Clementi#POV Tag. Although I personally would wish the tag would go away, I think the path to making it do so goes through Talk:Suicide of Tyler Clementi#RfC: How best to represent sources?. Thanks for the help you've been giving at the page. --Tryptofish (talk) 00:59, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No need to explain. I agreed 100% the moment I saw your edit summary. God old fashioned WP:BRD at work! (smile). --Guy Macon (talk) 01:10, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DR page

Hi,

Thank you for attempting to address the dispute. I'm obviously an anal-retentive micro-manager of anything I'm involved in. I'm trying to be helpful in providing links and comments but if you think I'm interfering with the process then let me know and I can leave things be until invited. WLU (t) (c) Wikipedia's rules:simple/complex 15:30, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see no problems with your participation, but I am going to wait for links from Niel that support his case. There is always the chance that someone can consciously or unconsciously misstate someones position or even accidentally link to an earlier version. He is the one claiming bias, so he has to make his case. You, of course should weigh in if his evidence is incomplete, doesn't include responses published in the next issue, points to an abstract when the full paper is available, etc. --Guy Macon (talk) 18:51, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ya, no worries. His coding and linking isn't as good as mine (less experience) so it'll probably be quicker for me to drop them in and him confirm. WLU (t) (c) Wikipedia's rules:simple/complex 22:51, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Heathrow example

For what it is worth, I think you handled a difficult situation with an apposite example, with charm and with friendliness. Backing off is also reasonable. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 17:35, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Guy

I noticed that you have been making 2nd level headlines on the noticeboard. I've turned them to 3rd level headlines so this makes it easier to follow the cases on the noticeboard. Thanks!Curb Chain (talk) 21:26, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
