In September 2007, a herd of 13 life-size wicker elephants was installed on the banks of the Serpentine in Hyde Park. The installation was constructed by Steve Manning of Topiary Art Designs by winding recycled willow over a steel frame skeleton. The installation was commissioned by the charity, Elephant Family and invited contributions to a conservation project in Kerala, India.
