Visa requirements for Taiwan (R.O.C) passport holders are administrative entry restrictions by the authorities of other states placed on Republic of China nationals who hold Household registration, and thus right of abode in Taiwan.,[1] (i.e. "registered nationals") and those who do not ("unregistered nationals"). In the case they hold the household registration, they are entitled to a ROC ID Card[disambiguation needed] and the number of that card is printed in the passport. Several countries and territories have more favorable visa regimes for those holding passports with this identity card number. Unregistered nationals who use the Taiwan passport to enter Taiwan require an entry permit and are subject to immigration controls. This article deals with holders of Taiwan passport containing an identity card number.
In 2014, Taiwan passport holders had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 132 countries and territories, ranking the Taiwan passport 24th in the world.[2] However, the Taiwan government has given an official tally of 140 countries and territories that grant visa-free or visa-on-arrival privileges to its citizens.[3]
