Despite being referred to routinely as "half-Irish" and claiming that his father immigrated from Ireland at age 12, publicly available information strongly suggests that Henry Hill was not half Irish, and that his father was not an Irish immigrant. Rather, it seems plain that Henry Hill was multiracial

According to Hill's Findagrave page, he was the son of [https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/169665455/henry-j_-hill Henry J. Hill Sr]. The names on the gravestone suggest that this is indeed our man. According to this gravestone, Henry J. Hill Sr. was the son of Moses Hill, born in 1873, died in 1930, and buried in Calvary Cemetery, and Marie Hill, the latter born in 1884 and died in 1969. According to [https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2W1S-1Q4 New York City Municipal Deaths Records], this Moses Hill was Black. In addition, the [https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9R6R-CKT?i=8&cc=1488411&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AMJT1-TQB 1920 U.S. Federal Census records] describe Henry Hill Sr., as well as both Moses and Marie, as "mulatto". However, it appears (contrary to my earlier mistaken impression) that Findagrave.com is not a reliable source for Wikipedia editing, and, without the Findagrave data linking Henry Hill Jr. to Henry Hill Sr. and thence to Moses Hill, the claim of Black ancestry is a non-starter for editing purposes. It's alright to question their validity, and/or question their reliability, but it's not alright to state that their "head is ruined." I did some minor cleaning up for books, articles, footnotes and the like; I just wikified those. Besides the already tagged trivia section, there is one section with way too many one line paragraphs which makes it also read like an additional trivia section. There is a mention that Hill is selling stuff on Ebay, but I have to ask the group this: Why is this relevant to his bio? It smells spamish or at the very least fan-clubish to me. Am I alone? THe article says his children's names are Gregg & Gina...but I know from the book that one's name is Ruth, can't remember the ohter, but weren't they both girls? Were Gregg & Gina names they took after joining the WPP? :In real life he had a son and daughter. In the book Wiseguy and the movie Goodfellas they were changed to two daughters to protect the family's identity. HENRY HILL AS A FATHER - A few years back I saw in interview with his 2 children in which they discussed the realities of the Hill household: Henry was not a 'happy Irish drinker' but an abusive husband and father, who created an atmosphere of fear in his household. The 2 children made a point of refuting the mythology that the NY media has built around Henry. To them, he was not a hero or matinee idol; he was a bully.
I think it's very fitting that his Wikipedia page is a hopeless hodgepodge of factual error, misrepresentation and confusion. * Much of the article reads like it's straight out of a book or screenplay. Do we really need all the details of incidents like the Billy Batts murder, etc.? If most of this isn't plagiarized verbatim from Pileggi (which I don't have to compare against), it's got to be awfully close.

* At [[Henry Hill#OfficialDocExistence]]: ''"Hill's first arrest took place when he was sixteen; this record is one of the few official documents that prove his existence."'' Despite the ref from the book, this doesn't make sense. The FBI has boxes of files on him, not to mention decades of living openly after being kicked out of WP, during which he wrote books, was written about, and interviewed.

* At [[Henry Hill#Eloped]]: ''"The two later eloped to North Carolina where they had a large wedding, attended by most of Hill's gangster friends."'' "Eloped" is running away to Vegas with, at most, a couple friends, and getting married in the [[Little White Wedding Chapel]] by an [[Elvis impersonator]] :) This is inconsistent with the large wedding described.

Apparent Black Ancestry

Despite being referred to routinely as "half-Irish" and claiming that his father immigrated from Ireland at age 12, publicly available information strongly suggests that Henry Hill was not half Irish, and that his father was not an Irish immigrant. Rather, it seems plain that Henry Hill was multiracial

According to Hill's Findagrave page, he was the son of Henry J. Hill Sr. The names on the gravestone suggest that this is indeed our man. According to this gravestone, Henry J. Hill Sr. was the son of Moses Hill, born in 1873, died in 1930, and buried in Calvary Cemetery, and Marie Hill, the latter born in 1884 and died in 1969. According to New York City Municipal Deaths Records, this Moses Hill was Black. In addition, the 1920 U.S. Federal Census records describe Henry Hill Sr., as well as both Moses and Marie, as "mulatto". However, it appears (contrary to my earlier mistaken impression) that Findagrave.com is not a reliable source for Wikipedia editing, and, without the Findagrave data linking Henry Hill Jr. to Henry Hill Sr. and thence to Moses Hill, the claim of Black ancestry is a non-starter for editing purposes.
