Sorry for the personal army request, but why is there no mention of creosote and resulting chimney fires? The prevention of these would be one of the most important purposes of a chimney sweep IMO.

Chimney sweeps suffered the first documented cases of occupational cancers, due to a carcinogenic component of coal dust (benzo(a)pyrene) which is also found in cigarette smoke. One of the best known and longest studied links of a specific chemical to cancer. Jed 17:47, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
