Seattle Sounders

Hi KuyaBriBri, I liked your move request at Seattle Sounders, and was dismayed to see the discussion had been closed with so little input. I made the request anew and thought you might be interested in participating. I've also notified WikiProject Football. Good day, BDD (talk) 14:48, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Altered speedy deletion rationale: Bookitout.com

Hello Kuyabribri. I am just letting you know that I deleted Bookitout.com, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 20:25, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What can I do to keep my Miva Merchant page from being deleted again?

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aura Hazel (talkcontribs) 20:36, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an administrator and therefore don't have access to the text of the deleted article. I don't remember the specifics of the article, but the reason it was deleted was "unambiguous advertising or promotion", which means that the article was written in an overly promotional tone to the point that there was no encyclopedic content worth saving.
In order for an article to remain on Wikipedia, it must at the minimum: 1) contain reliable sources that verify its content; 2) be written from a neutral point of view; and 3) meet certain notability criteria.
If you would like the deleted article in draft form for you to work on, I can request that the administrator who deleted the article create what is called a "userspace draft" where you can work on the article in a location where it is subject to considerably less scrutiny from the community. I should caution you, however, that if you are somehow affiliated with the organization you seek to contribute an article about, you are strongly discouraged (but not expressly forbidden) from creating or editing such articles because of conflict of interest, which hinders users' ability to write anything from neutral point of view.
For a further explanation of any of the terms I've used, please click on the blue links above. —KuyaBriBriTalk 20:43, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrol survey

New page patrol – Survey Invitation

Hello Kuyabribri! The WMF is currently developing new tools to make new page patrolling much easier. Whether you have patrolled many pages or only a few, we now need to know about your experience. The survey takes only 6 minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist us in analyzing the results of the survey; the WMF will not use the information to identify you.

  • If this invitation also appears on other accounts you may have, please complete the survey once only.
  • If this has been sent to you in error and you have never patrolled new pages, please ignore it.

Please click HERE to take part.
Many thanks in advance for providing this essential feedback.

You are receiving this invitation because you have patrolled new pages. For more information, please see NPP Survey

October 2011

Hi. Thank you for your help with the vital work of patrolling new pages. I noticed that you are not marking some of the pages you've reviewed as patrolled. Please do remember to click the 'mark this page as patrolled' link at the bottom of the new page if you have performed the standard patrolling tasks. Where appropriate, doing so saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page, so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thanks again for volunteering your time at the new pages patrol project.  Abhishek  Talk 14:33, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:DTTR and realize that one of the following may have happened:
  1. You left the above notice one minute after the page was CSD tagged - perhaps you came upon the page in the middle of Twinkle processing the CSD command, which automatically marks the page as patrolled
  2. There are a number of reasons that the "mark as patrolled" link will go away or not appear at all. Perhaps I checked the talk page or history (i.e., done the due diligence that all of us should do before marking an article for deletion) and then clicked the "Read" link instead of my browser's "Back" button, or perhaps I came across the page via RC, not NP.
Please think twice before leaving that template notice on any user's talk page, as most new page patrollers are regular users. If you come across a page that's CSD tagged but not marked as patrolled, then feel free to mark it yourself. That's what I do. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:49, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Population of the largest cities of the United States

When I PRODded it it was misspelt Templete:Population of the largest cities of the United States so it wasnt a template back then but the ac changed the title before I was finished. It still isn't one. SpeakFree (talk)(contribs) 15:07, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind I've noticed what it's used for. It looked like a list to me with the references. SpeakFree (talk)(contribs) 15:16, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Listen

I've been busting my ass for nearly 6 hours trying to shorten the "List of city nicknames in US" article because every town in America with a population of 300 has a nickname. I was trying to create a separate article for each state for all the towns/cities in that state (including the towns with ridiculously low populations) and then trim the main article by removing all the smaller cities (which would now be on the states' respective articles) Seriously, what am I doing wrong here? Just tell me and I'll go ahead and blank the last 15 pages I created. I'm just trying to help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ncboy2010 (talkcontribs) 3 November 2011

You created it at Unadilla, Nevada, not at a more conventional name like List of city nicknames in Nevada. I was actually just about to request that the admin who deleted the article recreate it at the proper title. —KuyaBriBriTalk 13:57, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I know, I had just realised that right after I created it and was going to move the page when I got the speedy deletion message. Sorry if I came off a bit snappy, I've been trying hard to get all the info onto the other pages. I really didn't mean to snap like that, I'm just a bit stressed trying to get it done, you know? anyway, thanks for letting me know. I feel a bit like a jerk now, sorry. x_x

P.S. The reason that it got created at Unidilla, Nevada was because i created List of city nicknames in Nebraska, and I checked each city (for the population, to remove it from the main article if it was below 100,000) and I forgot to press the backspace.. The last city on the list for Nebraska, was Unidilla, Nebraska.... Without thinking I changed the Nebraska to Nevada (not realizing i hadn't gone back to the list of city nicknames in nebraska) that's how it ended up there. Ncboy2010 (talk) 14:04, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. Looks like it's already been undeleted and moved. That was fast. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:05, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Altered speedy deletion rationale: Duresto

Hello Kuyabribri, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I deleted Duresto, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided. The speedy deletion criteria are extremely narrow and specific, and the process is more effective if the correct criterion is used. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. SmartSE (talk) 16:17, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please be more specific than a templated message? Thanks. —KuyaBriBriTalk 16:19, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I had a bit of a misfire using CSD helper. Because you had tagged it as A7 and G11 it wanted me to choose one but I mis-clicked and choose neither, which is why it sent you that message. FWIW, for something that spammy, G11 by itself would be fine. Cheers SmartSE (talk) 16:25, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I had a feeling that was the reasoning. Thanks for the explanation. —KuyaBriBriTalk 17:14, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Max Bollinger

Hi! :)

You removed the tag on the Max Bollinger article and stated it could not be prodded due to prior AfD. Um, I can see no trace of a prior AfD. I'm kinda tired, so maybe I'm missing something.

Could you please point me in the right direct (or, if there's an error, change your mind. :) )

81.148.218.37 (talk) 16:58, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's linked from the talk page, but here it is as well: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Max Bollinger. Since you are an anonymous user I am willing to submit a good-faith AfD nomination on your behalf, so long as your rationale remotely falls within the deletion policy. Let me know. —KuyaBriBriTalk 17:04, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies. I see it now. My argument (as on the talk page) is the same as everyone else's - the guy's non-notable. Googling his claimed credits and following the ISBNs (rather than assuming he's the author) show's pretty clearly that he's... well, nobody, really. That aside, the article is harmless. Happy to leave it to your greater experience as to whether it's worth AfDing. Have a good Friday! 81.148.218.37 (talk) 17:49, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and opened one: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Max Bollinger (2nd nomination). Please add any additional comments there. —KuyaBriBriTalk 21:41, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Template:HC Lada Togliatti roster and Template:MVD Balashikha roster

Friday Night Productions

Hello, I've removed the A7 speedy on Friday Night Productions, as it now asserts notability. Notability seems borderline to me though, so you might want to take it to AFD if it doesn't improve soon. Thanks, Filing Flunky (talk) 16:19, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up. Will keep an eye on it. —KuyaBriBriTalk 16:28, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Whilst speedying and standard boilerplate talk page messages are all well and good, do try to help a new editor out if it's clear that they've made a mistake with Wikipedia's bureaucracy/syntax, rather than having purposefully vandalised – especially given that we have been recently criticised for user-unfriendliness. Best, It Is Me Here t / c 18:05, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Normally I do and I was going to in this case, but I noticed that an administrator was already helping the user with his/her issue. —KuyaBriBriTalk 18:14, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry

Products don't qualify for A7. A7 is people based - people themselves and organised groups of them, or named animals (Chichi the banded gecko, but not Banded Gecko), or for some odd reason, web content (but not software, unless it's only available for use online - I think). Schools are not eligible for A7 (but are eligible for hoax, spam, attack etc), and are an exception to the people based rule. As to the article, no way would I go in a vehicle fitted with this gadget - which I am sure is just an idea that will go nowhere. Only invented last month? Hasn't had time to get past the regulators, or into production, and the insurance companies will not reduce premiums for something totally new like this. More likely to increase them as it's experimental. Peridon (talk) 20:56, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

While I agree with your comments 100%, I think the person you should be leaving them for is Wildthing61476 (talk · contribs). S/he added the A7 tag; I prodded it afterward but left the A7 tag on there just in case it did qualify for A7. —KuyaBriBriTalk 21:06, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thought it was odd for you to be doing that - to me it looked as if you were adding the A7 to the prod in hope.... Sorry. I'll tb them to here. Peridon (talk) 21:09, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
FYI the article in question is Dual steering wheel car. —KuyaBriBriTalk 21:12, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Mea Culpa all, I'll be sure not to let that happen again. Thanks for letting me know. Wildthing61476 (talk) 21:19, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think we've all done it at some time. Peridon (talk) 22:39, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I read the guidelines and it says that I can create a page for marketing purpose. Could not understand your message for marking my page for deletion. Please reply. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Page3Eventss (talkcontribs) 16:51, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there Kuyabribri, just a note to say that I removed the Speedy tag from this article because its not exactly patent gibberish. Easy test....if you can understand at least 50% of the words and all the sentences, its probably not a G1. I was debating on whether or not to add a A7 (web content) when someone else went ahead and did so, so it'll get deleted fairly quickly, I'm sure. Anyway, thanks for your work, NLinpublic (talk) 17:57, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The source is the club's official website: http://www.vasco.com.br/siteBalbinoFelipeTalk 23:22, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, but 1) the source(s) need to be on the article, not on my talk page; and 2) the club's official website is technically not an independent source. If you can find some sort of statistics database that lists that this player has indeed played for this team, then that would be preferable. —KuyaBriBriTalk 16:37, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

US Digital Gaming

I was surprised to see the spam flag on a recent article I contributed for U.S. Digital Gaming. The article is factual, non-promotional and backed up by citations from AP and The Wall Street Journal. I built this page as part of a series of pages I'm working on about online gambling in the U.S. and this company as well as its key members are very vocal about this debate. Please let me know what you viewed as being "promotional" so I can rewrite the article to the community standards. I'm at a loss, given this complies with notoriety and objectivity standards typical of Wikipedia contributions.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Laveaux (talkcontribs) 00:01, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an administrator and currently do not have access to the deleted article; however, from what I remember the article was littered with PR-speak, which is not appropriate for an encyclopedia. —KuyaBriBriTalk 17:06, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Page, Need Copy

Hi,

I just created the page, Malden Anglers Association and it was deleted within an hour of my post under section A7. I also believe the Association is important because there is only one website about it and a Wikipedia page would be helpful as always. It is fine if its deleted but I NEED a copy of that article, because I created it for a college class I am taking and need proof of completion. If you could email me a copy that would be great.

Thanks, Amanda Luongo — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amandaluongo (talkcontribs) 21:59, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an administrator and cannot access the deleted article. You need to leave a message with NawlinWiki (talk · contribs), the administrator who deleted the article, who should be able to email you a copy. As for the reason why the article was deleted, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for getting the word out or publicizing something. Any subject covered must already have been the topic of coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources. Click on any of the blue links for an explanation of what those terms mean. Note that I have redacted your email address for your own privacy. —KuyaBriBriTalk 22:08, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. WP:BLPPROD says: "To place a BLPPROD tag, the process requires that the article contain no sources in any form (as references, external links, etc.), which support any statements made about the person in the biography". None of the references support any of the statements made, therefore it's eligible for BLP Prod. Thanks, Filing Flunky (talk) 17:35, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Aha you've just reverted - nevermind. :-) Thanks, Filing Flunky (talk) 17:36, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IP talk pages

Greetings ... I saw your edit summary regarding an angry anon IP that was blanking their talk page after a block was imposed. I reviewed the appropriate policy, and I do agree that users may delete warnings and such notes (especially since it's a good indicator that they've at least seen them). However, active blocks cannot be removed, which was one of the elements 199.212 deleted.

That said, I'm not trying to create an argument or tit-for-tat. On the contrary, I wanted to bring up an opinion I read elsewhere regarding IP user pages and to hear your thoughts. The opinion stated that IP-address talk pages do not belong to the users that edit them. That privilege is reserved for users who create accounts, since IPs often (but not always) rotate. This allows admins and other users to see an address' history, not to mention new users who may wind up editing on that IP and find themselves blocked for no reason. Yes it's true the "View history" tab shows all that either way. Just the same, it's an interesting point. Thank you for your contributions and your time.

--McDoobAU93 16:07, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The user in question removed the block notice shortly after the block expired, which I have been told in the past is allowed. It's unfortunate that the user decided to accompany that with this missive, which is the reason s/he is again blocked.
That being said, I can certainly see the logic behind the opinion that IP users should not be entitled to removal of talk page content for the reasons you state. And for what it's worth, I do agree with your opinion here that user pages don't belong to us, at least not in the way a Facebook page does. —KuyaBriBriTalk 16:49, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't look close enough at the time to see when the block would have expired, but that is correct, they can do so afterwards on their own pages. If it's an IP, however ... well that's what we're discussing. I do know there are a number of static IPs that choose to edit that way and not create accounts for whatever reason, which may explain why policy doesn't completely cover it. If I get a moment, I may try and find where I saw this before (or whose opinion it was) and dig into it a bit deeper. Thanks for your thoughts! --McDoobAU93 16:56, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Inquiry about Deletion notification

Dear Kuyabribri,

The page that I saved was not yet completed and there is much still to edit on it. However I did read the concerns and am grateful for them. I will do my best to post what I am working on at a different location. I would like to ask if you have any suggestions about what online encyclopedia I could use or if i should generate a webpage using a free service instead?

All articles must meet the policies on verifiability, notability, and neutral point-of-view. Wikipedia is not a game guide, and wholly in-universe articles about works of fiction including games are not allowed without some indication that they meet the notability criteria in the real world. You might want to check out this page for a list of sites using wiki technology that might be willing to host your content. I also did a Google search and found that Wikia hosts a Dungeons and Dragons wiki at http://dungeons.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page. That wiki is not under the purview of the Wikimedia Foundation (which owns Wikipedia), and I have no idea what their policies are since I'm not a user there, but it might be worthwhile to check it out. —KuyaBriBriTalk 18:39, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
