I certainly understood that I was introducing a significant new strand that would take a while to ‘bed in’. But I created a new section for Bo Xilai's bid to be mayor of Shenzhen, despite its being short, because it didn't seem to fit into any of the existing sections, which covered discrete roles and time periods. The 'flow' you refer to was little more than a sequence of such vignettes. I see that my sentences now form part of the 'Mayor of Dalian' section.  I recall that, when I added it, I thought that the Shenzhen bid was made ''after'' he finished at Dalian, though I don't have that reference to hand now.
