Hello. I've shortened the section you wrote on Chongqing gang trials due to WP:WEIGHT concerns (it is currently only reported from one source). Please feel free to revert and discuss if you feel this is improper. :I appreciate your letting me know, and I understand where you’re coming from. In particular, I hope that, over some longer period of time, the article will become more rounded. I certainly understood that I was introducing a significant new strand that would take a while to ‘bed in’. However, in seeking the right balance, we need to remember that almost all the news coverage is based on government-provided propaganda. The extensive use of extra-judicial procedures to secure convictions is simply the other side of the original gangsterism coin, and I believe that these revelations have a fairly central place in this story. |
|||
:Therefore, following your invitation to revert and discuss, I’ve put the section back, backed by a reference to a major Time article, which alongside the original South China Morning Post (the major HK paper), gives it a solid basis, and downgraded to a Level-3 subhead. ::Good stuff. Hopefully more news sources appear too; would be rather happy to expand that section. :::It's not hard to find more supporting material. I searched on 'Chongqing", 'torture' and the name of one of the protagonists. Cossaxx (talk) 18:32, 9 August 2010 (UTC) |

::::Mmkay, I'll take a look later this week and expand it. Thanks again! While I appreciate your recent additions, such as those on the page Bo Xilai, please have a more holistic approach when editing articles. Slapping a section into an article under a new heading without providing any due context or attempting to amalgamate the content with the flow of the rest of the article is discouraged. I would happily guide you through this process, because we always welcome new contributors. Colipon+(Talk) 17:55, 25 April 2012 (UTC) |

:Um, well thanks for your interest and your fairly civil tone. But I created a new section for Bo Xilai's bid to be mayor of Shenzhen, despite its being short, because it didn't seem to fit into any of the existing sections, which covered discrete roles and time periods. The 'flow' you refer to was little more than a sequence of such vignettes. I see that my sentences now form part of the 'Mayor of Dalian' section. I recall that, when I added it, I thought that the Shenzhen bid was made after he finished at Dalian, though I don't have that reference to hand now. Anyway, you are taking a longer term interest in the article than I, so I'll leave it in your eager hands.Cossaxx (talk) 00:25, 13 May 2012 (UTC) |
