Your GA nomination of Tucker Carlson Tonight

The article Tucker Carlson Tonight you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Tucker Carlson Tonight for comments about the article, and Talk:Tucker Carlson Tonight/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Please work on the draft-space article Draft:Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip

Hey ElijahPepe. I wanted to let you know that Draft:Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip was created yesterday to not violate WP:FUTURE, given the Israeli ground invasion hasn't begun, or at least, not enough RS say it has begun. I saw you previously worked on the now redirect stub 2023 Israeli invasion of Gaza, so I wanted to suggest you could work on the draft-space article. Also, I wanted to note the stub-article title was wrong in general (Gaza Strip, not Gaza), plus it violated WP:FUTURE. So yeah, the draft-space article can be worked on and improved prior to the invasion, so when the invasion does occur, it is start/C class rather than a stub article. Cheers! Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Please slow it down

Hi there. This morning, when I was reading about the OpenAI drama that's going on, I suddenly wondered if someone would have been tempted to create an article about it. I then had a second thought: if they did, chances were that you would be the article creator. I logged onto Wikipedia, searched "firing of Sam Altman" (so close!), and indeed — there was an article created by you, and as I had guessed, it had been nominated for AfD. While your dedication to article creation is greatly appreciated, please consider slowing it down when it comes to creating articles about current events, which I know you are prolific in. Consider WP:NEVENT, WP:10YEAR, and especially WP:NOTNEWS. Thank you. InfiniteNexus (talk) 17:56, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I concur with @InfiniteNexus. By coincidence, I came to this talk page to post the exact same concern. Removal of Sam Altman, and other articles such as Efforts to remove Kevin McCarthy are 1) clearly out of step with our best practices for naming and titles, which you should be aware of by now and 2) questionable in terms of notability, and would best be brought up on the relevant talk pages first as a proposal, rather than an abrupt fork. In the spirit of collaboration, please consider these points first before just starting a new article. It will save lots of grief and wasted time in requested move or Articles for Deletion debates. - Fuzheado | Talk 13:19, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, ElijahPepe. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Outline of investigations and court cases involving Donald Trump".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 01:03, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:58, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of February 2024 New York's 3rd congressional district election

@ElijahPepe: Request deletion of this redirect as page "2024 New York's 3rd congressional district special election" is already up. Check your contributions! Type db-g7 inside {{}} in that redirect then save. Santiago Claudio (talk) 02:13, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was sad to see you reverted my redirect. I redirected it to the yearly article because a draft-article was already in the making (Draft:Tornado outbreak of December 9, 2023). I even explained that in the redirect message. I have now placed a PROD on the article and would like to ask if I may re-redirect the article and let the much better-shape draft replace it in the future. Basically, I also think an outbreak article is warrented, but the current draft-article was created first and is in a whole lot better shape than the stub you reverted back. Please, let me re-redirect it (cancelling the PROD) and let the better-shape draft get ready for mainspace. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 03:03, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If the flow of information is greater in a separate article, there's nothing particularly disheartening about unredirecting it, and I mean zero ill-intentions. I read that you are honoring WP:0RR. At your discretion, you may redirect it again, as are alternative avenues; note that this is a developing situation that is garnering notability. You may also copy your content into the existing article. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 03:39, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and re-did the redirect. If I was the only editor, I would have just copied it in. However, seven other editors have edited the draft article, so I couldn't just copy/paste it over to mainspace without the article history being merged, which is a little bit of a hassle to do. Either way, I really thank you for letting me redirect it. It wasn't because I don't think it should be an article, just rather that several other editors had been working on this particular draft, so the 1-sentence mainspace article you made just complicated things a little bit. Once again, thank you! Feel free to help out on the draft: Draft:Tornado outbreak of December 9, 2023! Cheers! The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 03:48, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If other editors are working on that draft in a significant manner, a history merge is likely necessary. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 03:50, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation

Hello ElijahPepe, we need experienced volunteers.
  • New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, it basically boils down to checking CSD, notability, and title). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us.
  • If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions. You can apply for the user-right HERE.
  • If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message at the reviewer's discussion board.
  • Cheers, and hope to see you around.
