== "Saddam… Saddam… Saddam…"? == |

1. Saddam was his given name, right, and Hussein his surname? Then why is he referred to throughout the article as "Saddam"? Isn't that like referring to Mussolini as "Benito"?<br/> |
|||
2. Why must his name (whether it's "Saddam" ''or'' "Hussein") be repeated over and over in the same paragraph, when it's clear the subject is being referred to? It looks so amateurish. Unless there's a chance of ambiguity, why not utilize the perfectly adequate pronoun "he"? Are we worried that WP readers may be suffering from short-term memory loss? Ad Nauseam, not Nasuem
"...which stages the story ad nasuem..." is incorrect; the term is "ad nauseam." If the word is misspelled in the passage being quoted, there should be a [sic] after "nasuem." ~~Mpaniello~~
citations needed
"Hussein's rule was a repressive dictatorship[12] notorious for it's human rights abuses." You cite that he was a dictator but not that he was notorious for human rights abuses. While it may seem obvious (sic) to westerners it needs a solid citation. -thanks

Please add the following sentence with a wikilink be added to the end of the fourth paragraph: "Human Rights Watch estimated that Saddam's regime was responsible for the murder or dissappearence of 250,000 Iraqis." This information is currently sourced to Human Rights Watch in cite 56 in the body but it was blanked from the lede section in a recent edit without adequate explanation. 78.33.244.10 (talk) 09:58, 16 June 2024 (UTC)

Dictator
Saddam Hussein was a dictator, why is this missing? It’s not missing from Hitler or Mussolini’s pages. 67.85.20.214 (talk) 21:22, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- He was President of Iraq in an at-large or "lame duck" manner from 20 March 2003 to 9 April 2003. 2603:6000:C305:78DF:87D0:3EA6:9C1C:48F6 (talk) 02:17, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
- Al-Yawer presided over the Governing Council from 27 February 2004 – 7 April 2005. 2603:6000:C305:78DF:87D0:3EA6:9C1C:48F6 (talk) 02:25, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Yes, the way that Saddam Hussein positioned himself atop the hierarchy in Iraq was essentially in a manner that made him similar to a virus that could not be killed without the risk that the host, i.e. his home country of Iraq, would also die. Iraq has not dissolved, but the risk that the country itself will be dissolved seems to be ever-present. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.242.176.66 (talk) 18:38, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
