After almost 5 years of inactivity due to a busy work and university schedule, as well as suffering several injuries in 2016 which sidelined him for 7 months from any type of physical activity, Ryker began training in Martillo Wrestling Club in January 2020. During the 7 months of inactivity in 2016, Ryker gained a significant amount of weight. In august 2016, he began training in Taekwondo and his regular training regiment. Ryker states that in February 13, 2017, he started dedicating more time to physical fitness and dieting, as well as emphasizing mental and emotional well being, crediting this day as the day his life changed. In total, Ryker lost over 50 pounds since August 2016.
