===Third Party recruitment===
The following are examples of video game recruitment tools produced by a third party advertising group without the official endorsement of the group they intend to recruit for. Third party recruitment typically concerns a matter of interest to the third party and is done at the third party's expense. Since video game recruitment tools fall under the category of [[Below the line (advertising)|BTL]] [[advergaming|advergames]], which employ indirect advertising methods, it is often difficult to differentiate between third party advergame recruitment tools and non-advergame videogames exploring a political theme or including recruitment/advertisement for the purpose of realism.

A recruitment tool is an advertising method that aids in creating interest in and getting people for a typically political organization. The term can not properly be applied to commercial advertising. Historically recruitment tools have often taken the form of posters or films, though in modern times recruitment tools have taken the form of advergame video games. Other tools include things like sponsorships of sporting events, or ads on TV.
