Just FYI: |

I am the founding Senior Editor of VACUUM TUBE VALLEY magazine. I am also a longtime contributor to GLASS AUDIO, AUDIOXPRESS, and TUBE COLLECTOR magazines; and have written hundreds of articles about tube electronics. |
I am so sick of this "encyclopedia" and its lunatic "administrators" that I won't be checking this userpage very often in the future. Also don't intend to add any articles on tubes, or anything else. If Mr. Wales wants any more of my knowledge, he can fucking PAY ME FOR IT. |
I am the recipient of the 2004 Tube Collector's Association STOKES AWARD and the 1999 Antique Wireless Association GERALD F. J. TYNE AWARD for my writings about the early history of electronics, specifically vacuum tubes. |
Oh, and btw, if anyone posts one of my old VTV articles on Wikipedia, I will tell Charlie that Wikipedia is pirating his content. (He'll probably threaten to sue the Wikimedia people.) |
See the following websites for more information about my past writings. |

==Request to use images== |

I am considering a change to a section of the article Valve sound. My proposed change may be found at User:Gerry Ashton/sandbox. I believe I could improve the change by using some of the images that you and John Atwood created for your article "The Cool Sound of Tubes" in IEEE spectrum (to which I subscribe). If you have the authority to do so, I'd like permission to use the images, preferably under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License or another license listed in |
Commons:Licensing#Acceptable_licenses |
I'd also be interested in any constructive critisizm of my attempt. Also, my compute is equiped with speakers, in case you want to send derisive laughter. |

Since you opened up a deletion review, there's no need to spam a bunch of admin pages with requests for undeletion...just let the discussiona take its course, and the proposed article will be accepted or rejected on its merits. — Scientizzle 22:11, 11 February 2008 (UTC) |

you don't need my permission, and the article now has references. The images are a problem. It's not enough just to state that you have the creator's permission. To release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) you should do one of the following: |
*If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article's talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions. |
*If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at the talk page with a link to where we can find that note. |
*The copyright owner can send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article talk page. |
*Alternatively, he can create a note on his web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at the article talk page with a link to the web page details. |

I appreciate the work you've done, but unfortunately that sandbox article is quite similar to the one that was deleted, and does not address any of the concerns raised in the AFD debate. All but one of the sources do not meet the criteria for reliability, as two of them are primary (you can't use Retarded Animal Babies DVDs without other reliable sources), and another one is a passing mention with consensus in past discussions that it is trivial despite being associated with Weird Al. --Core<font color="#457541">desat</font> 23:08, 11 February 2008 (UTC) |

:You can launch a deletion review at WP:DRV (make sure to follow the instructions to make sure it is listed properly). --Core<font color="#457541">desat</font> 06:19, 12 February 2008 (UTC) |

The copyright owner is listed as David Lovelace, and he has to be the person to give permission as detailed previously. If he cannot be contacted, or is not prepared to take the steps outlined, you can't use the imagea, although you might be able to get one in under a "fair use" licence. I was going to make this suggestion - Regarding your Retarded Animal Babies article, you might have much better results writing an article about David Lovelace and making RAB a section within that article - when I saw that you already started such an article. |
So let me make two comments. |
*Don't accuse other editors of WP:vandalism for adding a tag that references are needed. That is NOT vandalism and all you do is antagonize editors. It also make you look uninformed and makes editors scrutinize your edits more closely. |
*Familiarize yourself with WP:verifiability and WP:notability. References to reliable sources are crucial for every article. Because of your history your articles are going to get a little more scrutiny. The only way to defend any article is with good references. |
