Northern Irish actor James Nesbitt works primarily in television; since his television acting debut in an episode of the BBC's Screen Two, he has had major roles as Adam Williams in Cold Feet (pilot, 1997; 5 series, 1998–2003), Tommy Murphy in Murphy's Law (pilot, 2001; 5 series, 2003–2007), and the dual role as Tom Jackman and Mr Hyde Jekyll (2007). In 2002, he played Ivan Cooper in Paul Greengrass's controversial television film Bloody Sunday.
In film, he made his debut in Hear My Song (Peter Chelsom, 1991), and has since appeared in three Michael Winterbottom films, as well as Waking Ned (Kirk Jones, 1998), Lucky Break (Peter Cattaneo, 2004) and Match Point (Woody Allen, 2005).
