Iggy Pintado (born August 8, 1961) is a Philippines-born Australian author, "super-connector" and marketing expert [1]. based in Sydney, Australia. He has more than 20 years experience working for major corporations including Telstra and IBM, but he is best known for his book Connection Generation.
Early life
Pintado's Spanish father, Felix, was an accountant in Manila and then in Sydney. He and his family migrated to Sydney Australia in 1972, where he became an Australian citizen and where they still reside today. He is married to Kerry Pintado (nee Weir) and has two children, Rachel and Andrew He attended St. Leo’s Catholic college, Wahroonga and graduated from Macquarie University in 1982 with a bachelors degree in English, majoring in Mass Communication.
Career
From 1986 to 2008, he held professional, management and executive positions in marketing, sales and online management at IBM Australia (1986-2006) and at Telstra (2006-2008).
Works
In mid-2008, he co-founded a business networking consulting, marketing, speaking and mentoring business called ConnectGen, where he is CEO and CNO (Chief Networking Officer). He is a “super-connected” online networker on LinkedIn, Plaxo, Facebook and Twitter.
In April 2009, he released his first book, Connection Generation, a study of connectedness and how it affects society and business and the challenges and opportunities this compelling development presents.
"Connection Generation" examines how individuals, groups and networks have progressed beyond their intent to communicate - but to a tangible connection between people, information, experiences and ideas. Pintado proposes that anyone who has had access to a computer or mobile device since 1995 - regardless of age - is part of the Connection Generation.
Honors
In 2004, Pintado was awarded the inaugural Certified Practising Marketer (CPM) of the Year by the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI). [2]
