Jessica Alba

Is he actually married to Jessica Alba? I doubt it, and a quick internet search revealed no evidence supporting the claim. HalfBrian (talk) 08:48, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No he's not. I've now corrected it. Courseiam (talk) 02:25, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pilot

I understand that Lipton is a private pilot. There should be some mention of that in the article. --65.33.226.154 01:54, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

End-of-interview questions

How about a list of Lipton's trademark end-of-interview questions — like "What's your favorite sound?" or "When you arrive in Heaven, what would you like to hear God say?" I know there are a bunch.

There's mention of them on the Inside the Actors Studio page, with a link to Bernard Pivot. Pivot actually came up with those questions (Lipton credits him on every episode), so a full list of them would probable more rightly go on his page. --Brian Olsen 22:01, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish or atheist?

He's categorized as both a Jew and an atheist. I know Judaism has more of a "cultural aspect" to it, but I don't think we should categorize him in Judaism unless he's a practicing Jew or at least not an atheist.142.176.114.243 03:41, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Untrue -- being Jewish is more than a religion. Larry Dunn 15:36, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1926?

He can't be 80 years old!! There has to be some kind of mistake here. He looks like he's 60!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.83.180.168 (talk)

Actually, he's slightly older. I was a student at the Actors Studio Drama School, and during my second year - which would have been fall of 2003 - we had a surprise birthday party for him. It was his 80th, which would make his birthdate 1923. I was going to add this to the article, but I don't have any reference for it. But yes, he's in his early 80s! --Brian Olsen 17:58, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

Don't you think that, if there's going to be a picture of Will Ferrell's impersonation, there should at least be a picture of the real Lipton? patton1138 18:06, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking the exact same thing. The screenshot of Ferrell is fair use, so there's no reason we couldn't use a fair use photo of Lipton if there's no free use alternative. I saw the article and was a little shocked and a little appalled at the photo selection. -- Kicking222 17:23, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. -anonymous6494 02:27, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I uploaded a screenshot of James Lipton and thought I had met all the fair use criteria, but it has been deleted anyway. I'm really not sure what the problem was. A shame. Brian Adler 12:34, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Parodies

I understand that parody of Lipton is almost iconic in pop culture, but isn't the tail wagging the dog here a bit? There's much more description of the parodies of the man, than of the man himself. The Parodies section should probably be trimmed more than a little. Larry Dunn 15:35, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pimp

Before getting into a revert war . . . . It seems to me pimp is a valid former occupation and category. It has the advantage of being both true and noteworthy. I'll wait for any discussion before reverting the last revert, but I think we should retain pimp under occupation and category. Editor437 02:28, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. To do otherwise would be splitting hairs, not to mention misleading. NoVomit (talk) 16:43, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is this crap?

Seriously, what kind of crap biography is this? He's a writer, poet, and dean emeritus of the Actors Studio Drama School in New York City? What books did he write, when? When was he is Paris? What theater/movie roles has he had? When was he dean of the Actor Studio? Just a couple of basic questions a biography should answer. This article, as it is, is completely worthless... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.82.215.23 (talk) 05:34, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Legitimate points -- Remember, anyone can edit, so feel free to make whatever changes you want to answer precisely these questions Editor437 09:38, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added the Paris years and the movie credit. The other questions were already in the article. The Actors Studio Drama School and the Actors Studio are two different things. One of the problems of adding dates is that Lipton's autobiography has entire sections with no dates given at all. Pepso2 19:03, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

X-Entertainment

Shouldn't the James Lipton character in X-Entertainment's Advent Calendar be be mentioned in the popular culture references section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.10.214.90 (talk) 18:47, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Family

Has he ever had any siblings or children? Qzm (talk) 02:03, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
