::::If you can find adequate WP:RS to justify the move - do it - the point is the Java trench is historically correct - since the larger Sumatran earthquakes the broader Sunda term has been used extensively due to better knowledge of plate tectonics and the extent of the trench and the plate - so if it is moved - for a good acknowledgement of WP:NPOV it has to be acknowledged that it was known for a long time as Java trench. Not as the Sunda trench. SatuSuro 09:42, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Unnamed

No one gave the name of the deepest part of this trench but all other trenches have one name or another, "*** deep" was the constant.Undead Herle King (talk) 21:01, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

sunda trench

Lost (tv show) has started referencing the Sunda Trench. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.187.156.174 (talk) 00:35, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If 'Sunda trench' is more accurate, don't you guys think that it's also more accurate to move this page to 'Sunda trench'? --kandar (talk) 08:39, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The editor who provided that comment did not give any reference or cite to back that up - if there is no WP:RS to ascertain the usage - no - leave it as it is SatuSuro 08:48, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is already a redirect for Sunda trench - even less reason for any sense of a move SatuSuro 08:56, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's redirected to 'Java trench'. Why don't we do it in reverse? If we look at geological maps, we will mostly found that the label is 'Sunda trench', because it is related with geographical terms such as Sundaland, Sunda islands, Sunda sea and Sunda plate. And that's include a picture in this article. :P --kandar (talk) 09:12, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sunda is not the only cultural region in Indonesia.... it is not part of what Wikipedia is about to give WP:UNDUE emphasis upon any one item against another SatuSuro 09:17, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Of course not. We are talking about geological terms, not about culture. --kandar (talk) 09:34, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you can find adequate WP:RS to justify the move - do it - the point is the Java trench is historically correct - since the larger Sumatran earthquakes the broader Sunda term has been used extensively due to better knowledge of plate tectonics and the extent of the trench and the plate - so if it is moved - for a good acknowledgement of WP:NPOV it has to be acknowledged that it was known for a long time as Java trench. Not as the Sunda trench. SatuSuro 09:42, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
