HaMerotz LaMillion 2 (Template:Lang-he, The Race to the Million) will be the second installment of the Israeli version of the American reality show The Amazing Race. The series features 11 teams of two with a pre-existing relationship in a race around the world to win 1,000,000.[1]

On February 11, 2011 Ron Shahar was announced as the new host of the race, replacing Raz Meirman.[2] HaMerotz LaMillion 2 was premiered on October 25, 2011.[3]

Production

Development and Filming

Channel 2 greenlit the second installment on September 20, 2010. Filming took place between March 30, 2011 and April 26, 2011.[1]

Filming for HaMerotz LaMillion 2 lasted for 28 days. The second season spanned nine countries. Among them, at least 6 were previously unvisited countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland[4] and Thailand. Previously visited countries are China and Israel.[5]

Applications were accepted during all November, 2010.[2]

  1. ^a b Leg 1 was a double-elimination leg. Gadi & Alona were eliminated first when they arrived last at a designated midway checkpoint (see below). Tal & Mor were later eliminated at the Pit Stop.

Leg 1 (Israel → Hungary)

Széchenyi thermal bath was the first Pit Stop of the Race.

At the leg's Detour teams had to choose between Circus or Waltz. In Circus, teams had to perform a cirucs performace by walking on a rope and maintain stabillity on a board on a wheel, after teammate performed properly, they received the next clue. In Waltz, teams had to learn waltz steps and show a waltz dance to judges who will rate their dance accuracy. They needed to score at least 20 points to receive the next clue. At the U-Turn, all teams had to choose the team they want to U-Turn, the team which got the highest number of votes (Alon & Hen) was U-Turned. At the Roadblock, one team member had to enter an aquaraium, with hands and feet tied by iron chains, and let them off by finding two keys in the aquarium and opening the chains, only after the the member let off the chains, the team could receive the next clue.

Additional tasks
  • At the beginning of the race, each team had to retrieve the key for its vehicle from a pile of ropes, and then climb on rope ladders to enter the car. After the driver from each team pressed the horn, the team received the next clue.
  • To find the code to the safes in their cars, teams had to listen to series of songs at Wadi Shiqma and recognize three colors, after they recognized the colors (Red, White and Green) and then to grab three balls with the three colors and numbers on them. After teams found the balls, they could encrypt the code to the safes in their cars which include the flight tickets for the first destination.
    • The first five teams received tickets for the first flight from Tel Aviv to Budapest; the next five teams received tickets for the second flight. While the last team to not receive the ticket, they would be eliminated.
  • In the restaurant at Pilisvörösvár, teams had to eat a bowl of extremely-spicy goulash soup, when they have only one water glass per team. After the both teammates from each team finished the soup, they received the next clue.
  • At Puss Laci Pigsty teams had to catch all the pigs and give them to the farmer. After they done this, they received the next clue.
  • At Óbuda Square each team's members had to stand against each other, one member with soda syphon and one with a glass. They had to fill the glass fully with soda from the soda syphon. Only after team's glass was full, they could receive the next clue
  • On their way to Astra Filmstudios, teams had to get a cab and direct the driver to the destination, all this when they're wearing strait jackets.
  • Teams had to resolve one side of Rubik's Cube with a picture of Széchenyi thermal bath, to discover that is their next pit stop

Leg 2 (Hungary)

At Elisabeth Bridge teams had to count the columns of the bridge.

At the leg's Detour teams had to choose between Movie Star and TV Star. In Movie Star team members had to dub a scene from a Hungarian movie, only after they dubbed the five phrases as closest as possible, they received the next clue. In TV Star team members had to read from a teleprinter a forecast for Hungary, only after they did it accurately, they received the next clue. At the Roadblock, one team member had to crack a big ice cube, only after the team member cracked it, he/she could take from it the next clue

Additional tasks
  • At the Hockey Arena one team member had to play hockey and score two goals, while one team member holds a big ice cube. The hockey player team member can't play if the ice cube holder team member doesn't hold the ice cube. Only after the hockey player team member scored two goals, the team received the next clue
  • At Almasi Ter two teams had to fight in a chocolate tub and fill the rival team's chocolate jar until it's full. After the rival team's jar is full, the winner team receives the next clue while the loser team waits to the next team. The last team which left and lost the fight, had to wait 15 minutes until it could receive the next clue.
  • At Dohány Street Synagogue teams had to convince five people to wear a beard like Theodor Herzl used to have, lean on a fence and say his known sentence "Im Tirzu Ein Zo Agada", only after they took pictures of five people doing the following, they received the next clue
  • At Elisabeth Bridge teams had to count the columns on one side of the bridge. Only after they got a number of 2,377 columns, they could open a chest with the next clue
