Your GA nomination of Times Square Ball

The article Times Square Ball you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Times Square Ball for comments about the article. Well done! Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Quadell -- Quadell (talk) 01:22, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to the article. It is challenging to work in a description of the production, plus a cast, followed by a description of the soundtrack, plus album credits, all without being too repetitive. I am hoping a few experienced editors can come together here and expand this article to quality status. --Another Believer (Talk) 20:40, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Sound of Music Live!, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Subway (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Reliable sources

You say:

Threshold is rumor and speculation, even if posted by reliable sources.

Does this mean that some reliable sources are partially un-reliable?? Georgia guy (talk) 18:44, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Georgia guy. I asked this question in my own talk page too, but you did not answer. Why do you constantly attack the WP:RS aspect whereas neither me nor Viper have assumed that stance?
The source is Mary Jo Foley, who claims to have received this info from her little birdie. What both of us said in Windows 8 edit summary is: Our mission in Wikipedia is to represent fairly, proportionately and as much as possible without bias the points of views on a certain subjects that have due weight. And per WP:CRYSTAL, the point of view of the little birdie of Mary Jo Foley does not merit inclusion.
Basically, some Wikipedians have this illusion called a "reliable source illusion" in which they memorize the name of a number of mainstream works of journalism (e.g. Verge) or publishers (e.g. Wiley) and think whatever comes from these sources automatically merits inclusion in Wikipedia, whereas in reality, publications of these entities may fail WP:RS because of lack of the three elements that constitute a reliable source: Reliable author, reliable publisher, reliable contents.

Speedy deletion declined: Windows 8.2

Hello ViperSnake151. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Windows 8.2, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: No need to delete, it's a perfectly reasonable search term. I'll just re-aim the redirect. . Thank you. GedUK  12:43, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Android KitKat Screenshot

Hi! Firstly, I've read the reply you did in Lisa's talk page, but I forgot to reply. Hence, every news reports indirectly redirects to the information published by Mary Joe Foley of ZDNet. So, I'm waiting for some encyclopaedic references.

Anyways, you are correct, the official update of Android 4.4 KitKat for any other devices other than Nexus 5 are very different, one of my friend just installed it through factory images of it that were released 2-3 days ago in his Nexus 4 (you must be knowing), I was surprised to see that it was just different from my Nexus 5 and completely matches to the image you uploaded, i.e, File:Android 4.4 with stock launcher.png.

One thing to note that the screenshot you uploaded contains an icon representing a file which is downloading and a play store logo with a tick sign in-between, in the left-corner of the screenshot.

So, I've taken a simple screenshot of the OS just after installation in Nexus 4 and posted it replacing your file. Thanks. Himanis Das (Talk, Facebook me, Tweet me) 17:10, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: File:Android KitKat original home screen image.png

Wohoo! Nice observation though! I'll definitely support you because two duplicates has also been deleted. But one question, shall I assign File:Android 4.4 with stock launcher.png to all those pages which have the android on Nexus 5 image assigned in them ? Or I'll upload my image replacing it ? Himanis Das (Talk, Facebook me, Tweet me) 15:35, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for late, read your message, I also think that there is a requirement of that Nexus 5 image and there are not much discussions regarding the matter you mentioned. I can upload the image again with the purple mountains, but I'm sure one day an user will surely tag it for deletion requests and my work will go in vain, so I've left it to others. I'll also feel glad if you'll do that work. And I've also seen that most of the ads show that purple mountains wallpaper. Template:Infobox OS component

Hello, Viper

I thought you'd rather hear this from me than see it in your watchlist: I have moved Template:Infobox Windows component to Template:Infobox OS component. Your recent constructive edits showed me the importance of bold editing.

Now, I am not going to dive into the most controversial Mac article and put this template there, but I already have my eyes on a lot of non-controversial opportunities in which this template would reduce size, complexity and rendering time, without caveats. (See Template:OS X) As for the controversial cases, I'd put the emphasis on usefulness of the change. After all, I'd use {{Infobox goose}} in an article myself if I think it is more useful than {{infobox software}} – or vice versa.

WP:OWN

You are practicing that at CryptoLocker. 5 IC on one sentence is WP:OVERCITE. 4 of them have nothing to do with the sentence. Dunklin is not mentioned in any of them. 3 of the IC are already used in the article. One of them being the one IC kept. Two IC serve no purpose at all. Find them something they can back up.

Want me to take your behavior at this article to ANI? I will....William 04:55, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year

So 2013 ended with many ups and downs, starting from the release of blockbuster movies, new OSs, gadgets, cars and bikes, improve in social networking etc to meeting new friends, improving our editing skills, forming new groups.

But it also brought sad movements like the death of Paul Walker, Nelson Mandela to Cyclones like Phailin, Haiyan etc.

Finally, I'd like to conclude that several ups and downs are must in every year but we must be fearless and have faith in divine.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014.

Edit warring

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
