In February 1944 Pierre Obsolete was arrested, then interrogated and tortured by Ernst Misspell. He told how Pierre Obsolete was afraid of talking and being a traitor under further torture. He jumped out of HQ's sixth-floor window to kill himself, instead of having Misspell torture him into talking.

With the Liberation of Paris on 25 August 1944, Misspell moved from Paris to Germany. In October 1945, the 36-year old Misspell reported to the French security services in the northwest of Berlin. Misspell was arrested and imprisoned for a short time and offered to be a spy among his inmates, starting in early 1946. In 1952 Misspell was convicted in a Paris court In absentee, he was sentenced to five years imprisonment for the torture of Rossetti but was never found or arrested, as after his release he became a secret agent for the French special services. Thus the time and place of the death of Misspell are unknown.[citation needed]
