Your question on my RfA
Has been replied, I'm very flattered that you used it. :) I hope it seems clear enough so that you may understand me as both an editor and a person. Yanksox 16:02, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
50 Greatest Game Shows of All Time
There are great game shows on GSN that are part of the 50 Greatest Game Shows category. Some shows that air on that show are shows that are never going to air again. Why are you deleting this article? Someone in the future might want to take a look at it. There are shows in the list that didn't air and people would like to take a look at the shows that didn't air that are on the list. Why is the list considered an article for deletion? - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.237.218.93 (talk • contribs) . 12:22 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Re: Don't bite newcomers
I am sorry that you thought that my manner was uncivil on those pages. In my oppinon, I was not biting them, just strongly giving my oppinon on that page. If I caused any problems by that, please leave a message on my talk page on how I can fix that. But please don't insult me like that because that may make me more angry, so just leave suggetions. Thanks. Kitia 20:42, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Request for help
A user e-mailed me after appearing in my local daily newspaper with regards of adding information to the site. I asked for his user name, but declined to give it to me. I have been thinking for days trying to come up with a response to his e-mail:
Hello and thanks for your response. I appreciate your efforts. What would probably help me the most is a step by step approach to adding info. to the web site. I've already registered but the steps to be taken after that were confusing to me.
I'm not a computer expert. I have a lot of information on Ravenna's Quaker Oats including colored photos of old Ravenna Quaker Oats labels. I even have Sanborn insurance maps from the late 1800's showing the exact location of Ravenna's Quaker Oats buildings.
I also have information regarding Chapman Root whose' bottling company, in Terra Haute, Indiana, was the location for the creation of the well known Coca Cola bottle. Chapman Root went to school in Ravenna. I have some photos of him and his plant.
Henry Parsons Crowell, of Quaker Oats fame, was also instrumental in the financial backing of the Moody Bible Institute. Crowell was also instrumental in the creation of the Perfection Stove Company that our grandparents used to warm their homes.
My concern is that I don't want to ruin another person's information but would rather add to or create a new information site. Thanks for your help. If you would care to help with a step by step set of instructions, I would appreciate it.
I was wondering the following:
Where should the user place the information? Should be in a Quaker Oats-related article, or should it be in the Ravenna article? This also may not be suitable for Wikipedia. Furthermore, more information could be added past this.
He claims that he is "no computer expert." How would I go about telling him how to edit information? Seeing as whoever answers this query is used to dealing with new users, I thought I would ask you.
The reason I haven't responded yet is because I don't want to say the wrong thing, and have his edits reverted, and then he would get all discouraged and never contribute again. Any suggestions? Or, is this an inappropriate place for this? Should I ask this elsewhere? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ian Manka Talk to me! 04:09, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
By the looks of your question, I think it would be best to have you log on to IRC. This way I can get others on #wikipedia-bootcamp to help you in addition to me. This link will direct you to a web based IRC client. This way you don't have to download anything to talk to us! We are waiting for you. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 04:21, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- If you can't make it to the IRC channel, I think asking on the Help desk would be a good idea. Perhaps a few people can work together to form a response.--Commander Keane 04:26, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

You missed one
Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Joturner 2 was another unsuccessful RfA with more than 100 support votes. Feel free to check my lists, User:NoSeptember/RfA voting records, on these issues, I have been quite thourough in gathering the data. Perhaps you only consider those that are not withdrawn, but this one was withdrawn based on the fact that it was not going to pass, which is sort of a technicality. Not listing it seems arbitrary to me. Cheers, NoSeptember 08:41, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

OpenWetWare deletion
I saw that you deleted the page about OpenWetWare. I have to say that i'm not too aware about Wikipedia's policies, so I can't really be that upset. However, it should be said that I wasn't notified at all. Also, the few people who voted on the deletion were also wrong in a number of their facts. There are definitely more than 66 distinct google hits from openwetware not including self-references. Also, there have been several articles about OpenWetWare, including two in Nature and one in Science (the two leading scientific journals). That being said, I have no idea whether the article should or should not be deleted. I am only pointing out that I would have liked to been notified to better address people's concerns (perhaps to beef up the article) and to say that the people voting were misinformed.
Thanks, --Skosuri 00:29, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
ps. I am a member of the Steering Committee of OpenWetWare. I didn't realize that this means I shouldn't contribute. In which case, I have also contributed to the article Synthetic Biology, a field that I have vested interests in promoting (as do most of the other contributors).
Here is a link to some of the press articles about OpenWetWare. (disclosure: also on steering committee, so don't know if this excludes my contribution.) --Jasonk 18:09, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Happy to help, as to Teke, its a tough call as we are suppose to merely report on what happened last week; but at the same time we want the article to be up to date. The fact the actual SP deadline is a little flexible doesn't help. Ultimately its up to the last editor who checks it. - RoyBoy 800 22:30, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

- > I count 39 former admins on WP:LA and my own page. But then there are also the 3 temporary admins who had rights once, and there are no guarantees that someone hasn't been missed (especially from years ago when it wasn't tracked so closely). It wasn't until May 21 that I realized Eloquence was not listed on WP:BCRAT as a former bureaucrat and added him, I bet there are a few missing admins. If 39 is correct then Wknight94 on July 16 would be the 1000th ever promoted, but that doesn't sound right when we know the three temp admins were promoted at some point, which would make Aldux on July 12 the 1000th. (I use my admincount page plus the log to calculate this) I think just having the note on former admins you have is OK since if we try to be exact we will likely be wrong, I guess you could mention that we passed the 1000 admins ever promoted in mid-July.
> And you can't say that there "were between 35 and 40 admins desysopped" as you have it in the article, because many more admins were also desysopped, and then resysopped later.
> You may want to mention the exact date of the promotion (probably Sept 2nd).
> Since we were at 500 as recently as early July 2005, we doubled them in a bit over a year.
> I like your idea of using one of the admin growth charts in the article. NoSeptember 11:12, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Heh, wow. I'm on the spamlist so I should see it. I'm not sure about a comment yet, perhaps it is indeed better to wait until after the promotion. Thanks. —Xyrael / 19:43, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- > In the Nae'blis sentence I would replace "have been" with "are" (there have been a lot more who are no longer former).
> The exponential growth sentence is opinion and would be hotly debated on WT:RFA, although I agree with you.

Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp
Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

Steve Carell images
I was wondering why you took the The 40-Year-Old Virgin picture off his page and not the Little Miss Sunshine one. Reminder...
Not sure what the point of your reminder is, perhaps you could give an example of templates where you think I have forgotten to subst, though of course there are also good reasons not to subst and indeed if we wanted to enforce subst we could have the mediawiki software changed to do so on talk pages. --pgk 06:18, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification, first thing in the morning for me, so my tired eyes didn't see the link (either that or I'm just an idiot, I can think of good arguments for both). That template it quite new so I doubt it's been considered relative to subst. I tend not to subst that one, though I've seen others do so, to me it falls into the whole unblock/unblock reviewed series, which I would suspect could be removed fairly promptly after being dealt with. --pgk 19:37, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

I've finally decided to leave Wikipedia. If you need help with anymore F & A's you know where to find me, here. I can prepare it there and you can get it from there and bring it to the newsroom. Sugarpine t/c 03:25, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, were still doing it. Your doing it this week, I'll do it next week. I'll be on simple so you can contact me at my simple talkpage, where I'll do the reports and then take them over to the newsroom. Fine with the idea? Any questions? Sugarpine t/c 03:34, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
