Battala prints are the woodcut prints produced in the [[Battala]] region of [[Serampore]] City in [[Hooghly district]] in [[West Bengal]]. The Battala prints are the earliest known display prints to be produced in India, the Battala prints made their debut in the early nineteenth century as book illustrations and by the mid nineteenth century printmakers started printing the single sheet display prints.

The Battala prints are the earliest known display prints to be produced in India, the Battala prints made their debut in the early nineteenth century as book illustrations and by the mid nineteenth century printmakers started printing the single sheet display prints.
