I will proceed with some additions: 1. his presence at various social events within the english kingdom 2. his acquaintance with various personalities from the political and religious scene. He met them, talked to them, listened to their opinions amongst which were their grievences of royal rule. So, we'd better see Paris's expressed ideas as the reflection of public opinion and not as mere prejudices.
